My girlfriend is pregnant and wants an abortion what should I do?

I am 23 and my girlfriend got pregnant and her mom wants her to get an abortion...(I guess she doesn't like me)... and she agrees, but I want to have the baby. She thinks that we don't make enough to support a baby. I think that a child is the most wonderful thing in the world and don't think a baby should be killed because we might not make enough money. Who's right, me or the baby killer. She said that if 90 % of yahoo answerers say keep the baby then she will. Please everyone help save my baby. Pro Choice or Pro Life?

P.S. She is 8 months pregnant!!!

Wow, most guys I know wouldn't want a baby at your age. good on you. Abortion is a difficult subject. Many people have their own opinions. My opinion is that she can't have the abortion without your consent. Yes she will be the one carrying the baby for 9 months. But it takes two to tango you are as much part of the decision as she is.

Is your girlfriend over 18. If yes then this has nothing to do with the mother. She has no right interfering weather she likes you or not. If you both thought you were mature enough to have sex and conceive a baby, then the two of you have made your bed and you need to ly in it.

Take responsibility. The baby is the Innocent party here.
I say keep the baby. If you really love this child and each other you will make a plan to support each other both emotionally and financially.

EDITED TO RESPOND: You waited until later to add that she's EIGHT MONTHS PREGNANT??? This is a joke question, isn't it?

Pretending it isn't: It's too late to have an abortion, so this is a moot point. She should have the baby and either give it to you or (if you don't want full custody) put it up for adoption. Period.

I'm glad you want to keep the baby, so here's a suggestion. Can you think of a way to make it worthwhile to your girlfriend to divert about a year of her life (assuming she gives you full custody--19 years if she doesn't) and put her body through the most dangerous thing a woman can do (until the 1900's, childbirth was the leading cause of death in women)? Ask her. Compromise. Work out a deal of some sort, if at all possible. Offer to take full custody after the baby's born (if you two ever decide to marry, then she can revisit motherhood). Offer to pay all medical bills. Etc.

Because if you can't, in the end, it's her decision.

I have always been pro life because there is life once a baby is conceived. I realize it is her body, but you produced a child in an act of love. Babies are not convenient, they are a life long commitment. They bring joy and can also bring hardship, but you have control over a human life that can develop into a viable productive human being that may become a wonderful scientist or even president of the U.S. I would not toss a life away because it isn't convenient, how cold it that? Do you want to stay with this woman the rest of your life? You must love her to want this baby and have a family with her. I would hope she would listen to her heart and not what mom has to say, after all, she is over 21. I hope you both make the right decision. Best to you both.

She can't abort an 8 month old fetus. The child is viable. The issue she will be facing is whether she wants to give the baby up for adoption or not once it's born. At the point that the baby is born, the child then becomes your child. The mother can sign away her parental rights. However, the child can not be adopted out without your signature doing the same.

You can talk to her mom. Inform her that killing an innocent child is not the answer...ever. Ask you parents to talk to her mom, after all it is there grandchild too. You and your girlfriend are young, but you can offer to give the baby up for adoption. That way everyone wins, you can go on with your teen years, a loving couple gets the baby they've always wanted, and best of all the baby gets to have his/her right to life. You need to know what you are going to do and how you will take care of the baby. If you and your girlfriend can marry and perhaps live with your parents, that may be an answer. u cannot have an abortion at 8 months!! at least that is what i have learned. so too late and too sad, ur having this kid next month!!! good luck!!! and yes when you two had unprotected sex you made the choice to deal with the consequences. and u should never kill an innocent child that was the outcome of ur misdoings if u didnt want a child. at least have the child and give it up for adoption. that child was never at fault, but urself. keep the baby and for ur sake learn what a condom is and birth control pills are! or better yet keep ur legs closed!

You are not legally entitled to make that decision. A court is unlikely to rule in your favor because such a ruling would put an undue burden on her constitutional right to privacy. Therefore, as long as she is still in the pre-viability stage, it is her right to choose what she wants to do. While I agree that you both should discuss the matter to make an informed decision, the final say on the matter lies with her.

Additionally, you really should not be using yahoo answers as the means for making such important decisions.

I just noticed that you said she is 8 months pregnant, meaning she is past the point of viability. As such, in some jurisdictions, she would no longer have the right to an abortion.

WOW okay first off she really shouldn't base her decision on yahoo answers. Forget what the mom says. Yes it is her daughter but now that she has become a mother it is up to her to choose what is right. Besides you and her created the baby not you her and her! I don't know how old your girlfriend is but if she can base her decision on yahoo answers and take this as such a lite subject then maybe she would not make suck a good mother. One message to her: If you do go through with it I hope that 10 years down the line you won't be thinking dahm what if I had that kid? How would they be now? Judging by the way you say, "who's right, me or the baby killer?" I will assume that you have already told her it is murder and if she has an abortion at 8 months that is self-murder also.

It seems to me that it should be against the law to abort a baby if the father wants it. SHE COULD PRETEND TO BE A surrogate MOther for another couple... have the baby then give you custody, IN WRITING, and not be allowed to see it for at least 5 years or longer!

I think I WOULD as an attorney WHAT ARE MY RIGHTS IN SITUATIONS LIKE THIS because she would not just be murdering her baby she would be murdering your baby too.

You should have some rights. People will say it is her body, BUT SHE KNEW IT WAS HER BODY WHEN SHE ACCEPTED YOUR SPERM AND ALLOWED IT TO FERTILIZE HER EGG. There are toooooo many ways to prevent pregnancies for people to create a life and then murder it. TODAY THE MEDIA IS IN A FRENZY ABOUT A BALL PLAYER, CRUELLY KILLING DOGS AND FORCING THEM TO FIGHT. If it is monstrous to kill an animal why is it not even more evil to kill a child that no say in its creation.
