Look back in history; the greatest changes occured when laws were broken. Rosa Parks helped the civil rights greatly by breaking the law, not paying taxes help strike the revolutionary war, suppling booze during prohibition helped people realize the law is ineffective.

Honestly, isnt breaking a law a lot more effective than petitions and marches? Sure petitions are helpful, but they are very time consuming and easily ignored.

When I was 18, I was stupid and let my best friend at the time create a cell phone bill under my name under the agreement that she would pay the bill monthly (I know, not the smartest thing to do), and she did for a while but then stopped and ended up having the phone turned off on her and stuck me with a $500 bill. She has said she would pay it time and time again, but we're no longer friends and I honestly don't think she will unless I bring her to small claims court. Is there any way that my case would stand up in court? Or am I pretty much screwed out of the $500.

I just came accross a news story where the California Supreme Court has decided to prohibit siezure of cars from people accused of participating in prostitution or drug trade.

According to this story, municipal authorities in California have been confiscating cars from people without even waiting for the trial. An accusation was good enough evidence, as far as they were concerned.

This sounds to me a lot like the lynchings that happened all over the US a couple of generations ago. Perhaps the outcome now is not as gruesome as it used to be. But punishing people without any trial still looks like lynching to me.

Perhaps this kind of thing is not allowed in California now. But I wonder if other US states have similar punishments without any trial for people who are accused of breaking the law?

ok, so I have an ex boyfriend who treated me like **** and put me through a lot. I know, it happens to everyone, but this was really bad. I need to know just how bad it has to be in order to sue the **** out of him. I actually went to therapy and stuff about it. Also, I wanted to know if I could get him in trouble, because he's living in Virginia with a bunch of his friends who are underage and his mother doesn't want to do anything about it. We live in PA. They drink and do drugs all the time. I wanna know if there's any way I could get them in trouble without his mother's help, maybe make him move back. *** I am not looking for a lecture, I'm looking for someone who knows something about the law. And yes I want revenge, so what? And yes I know I should be over him, but I'm not, and I don't care what anyone has to say about that. ***

I'm sure you can find stats to suggest more people are helped than hurt by buckling up, but it seems to me personal liberty ought to trump societal concerns here. Maybe not buckling means more injuries meaning more taxpayer money spent on emergency services and more insurance money to be spendt on medical care, etc., but that is like grasping at straws....contact sports do the same thing, are we going to criminilize that now too, or what about eating unhealthy foods, doesn't that drive up healthcare costs for society, so why not restrict that somehow....the answer is personal liberty, which ought to reign supreme in America...and this idea that those not restrained could fly through the windshield and cause further accidents is surely less likely than a jammed seatbelt actually trapping an accident victim from escaping from a burning vehicle....Furthermore, let's be honest... the real reason states have this law is because the federal gov't will pull highway funding if they don't

Is it fair for a judge to ask how many times he had sex with the mother of his child? He said it was for him to know. This judge sided with the mother, he helped her make her answers he would stick up for her on why she never would show up to see her child. He went against the last judge completly and totally against anything the GAL (gaurdian at litem) had to say. What does this sound like to you all, what can we do we had an unfair judge and my stepson is suffering.

what if all campaign contibutions were pooled togeather and only the candidates nominated by their party could use the money with each candidate receiving the same amount for each public election. the size of the ammount would depend on the scope of the election. also all current tax exemptions on campaign contributions would remain the same. and one last thing, it would be a federal and international crime to make a private or corporate contribution to a specific politician or a specific political party. how different would our world be ?

It is alleged that the US government forced the LDS church to finally give ALL men in the LDS church the priesthood, when before 1978, blacks of African descent were not permitted to have the priesthood.

It is my understanding that, in order for it to be in violation of civil rights laws, it would have to be a paid position, a job. Our Priesthood is NOT a paid position, so no civil rights laws were violated, right?

I contacted my state Senators and Congressmen and one sent a letter back saying that nothing could be done because these people were protected by their first Amendment rights.

Am I the only on upset about this? Am I making to much of this? What do you think?

do more to regulate CPS? They bully parents that are doing nothing wrong, but they turn a blind eye to abuse until a child dies or is near death! There is a case where a 12 year-old boy was living with his Grandfather after his mom was killed in a car wreck and him and his wife had been reported to CPS dozens of times by family members AND his teachers. His wife refused to let the child use the bathroom and he had to pee on the floor and she then made him lay on the floor and mop it up with the clothes he had on and stomped on his head, causing him tocut his chin, requiring stitches! What is wrong with these social service workers? If they can't do their job get someone who can!
