Law & Ethics - June 2007

All of my items were in bags with the exception of a lawn chair and my sodas that were on the bottom of my cart. I had put the receipt in my pocket and i assume that when i took out my cell phone to answer it, my receipt fell out. I was so nervous & upset that i couldn't remember the cashier or lane that checked me out. I returned back into the store to ask the ladies wear dept. about a particular pair of pants that they had on clerance that i had forgotten to check on, then proceeded to the Garden center area to exit, that is also where i entered, i parked by there. The lady stopped me at the door & asked me for my receipt. It was @ that time that i realized that i didn't think i had it. I asked the lady to walk with me to retrace my steps back to ladies wear so i could look for it. She immediatly called management. They never mentioned that they had anything on any kind of camera or anything mind you. Several members of management showed up & were very rude and called the police.

Almost 2 years ago, when I was 19 years old, I was drugged, raped, and forced to remain in hotel room (naked) for 3 days. The man who raped me turned out to be an ex-con who spent 14 years in prison for attempted murder and has a very long criminal record, NOT consisting of other rapes...that I know of. I live in Washington State, where the rape was committed. The man who raped me removed all DNA evidence from me, or at least that is what I thought at the time. I was a virgin at the time that this occured (and still consider myself one) and became pregnant due to the rape. I had a miscarraige at 7 weeks along. I am very serious about this, and would appreciate SERIOUS help only! I want justice, but understand that it may be impossible. Is there ANYTHING that I can do? I am afraid that he will come after me and kill me...

Although it's clear this girl's problems needed to be addressed and 3 warnings didn't work, it is unusual for a person to be in solitary for a DUI and a violation of probation. Granted, she was shown special treatment, did not go through a strip search and was kept away from the general population. Still, the isolation aspect of the sentence seems excessive to me.
In a real prison, three weeks in solitary is given for a serious offense such as a violent attack or disorderly conduct. She is a non-violent offender by classification, yet she is receiving solitary.
Solitary confinement is no joke and can crack anyone eventually.
The worst part of this whole thing is the people who have cheered the decision to lock her up. Remember, she didn't hurt anyone and normal people get arrested for this daily. They do not end up in solitary, though.
She should not have acted entitled and been late to court, but this is kind of extreme.

The Superior Court of California-Orange County- grants a Decree AS IMPORTANT as a MARRIAGE DISSOLUTION Decree WITHOUT the SIGNATURE of its Authorised Official. It only bears the RUBBER STAMPS of the "Clerk" . When personal enquiry -whether signature CAN BE OBTAINED even on payment of some extra fees-was made at the Court-no SATISFACTORY Answer was forthcoming.
If a Remarriage is required to be carried out in some OTHER Country, this will NOT be considered a Valid Decree. Hence this Remarriage CANNOT be registered there.
Even the Notaries in that Country declined to Notarise the Phtocopies
of the Decree since the ORIGINAL is UNSIGNED.
Even in USA, ALL important Documents/Contracts/MOUs, etc, require to be SIGNED. Do the US Courts accept ANY OTHER DOCUMENTS which are UNSIGNED IN ANY OTHER MATTERS ?

Is there any REMEDY ?

I rent a condo which has electric heating. My electric bill in the winter was exorbitent. I got the heat pump checked and it works at 1/3rd efficiency. My landlords are reluctent to get to replaced or even fixed. They say say are obligated to provide a working system but are under no legal obligation to provide an efficient system. It appears they might have checked with their attorney. However, I want to confirm that their claim is in fact true, especially considering the environmental impact of using such an inefficient system.

My boss originally hands out our working schedule every two weeks. When we needed to ask for days off or shift the days, we may tell her before the new schedule is out and she would make changes. Right now she hands out the schedule 2 days before a new week starts and tells us that she doesn't want to accommodate us for changing dates. If we have doctor's appointment or need to run some errands, we need to ask our co-workers for changes. This would be fine, except my boss only hands out schedule 2 days or 1 day before the new week starts and refuses to put it back biweekly. Is there something we can do to make it better? Can my boss do that?
