I have to get on board with the top contributors listed above. I have never heard of a MAXIMUM wage for anyone. As an employer I think I can pay $10 million an hour for someone to watch my umbrella if that is what I want to do. Now you will have to understand I wouldn't do any such thing because of all the fallout it would generate from the $50,000 a year crowd who have the Master's Degrees if I started paying a son or daughter that sort of wage. There may also be some tax questions I would have to answer but I don't think there is anything illegal about it.

Yes, in most states, it is legal under Federal law, from the website below:
"What minimum wage exceptions apply to student learners?
This program is for high school students at least 16 years old who are enrolled in vocational education (shop courses). The employer that hires the student can obtain a certificate from the Department of Labor which allows the student to be paid not less than 75% of the minimum wage, for as long as the student is enrolled in the vocational education program.
Employers interested in applying for a student learner certificate should contact the Department of Labor Wage and Hour Regional Office with jurisdiction over their state. The Regional Office addresses and telephone numbers are:
Northeast Region (Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virgin Islands, Virginia, and West Virginia)"

If you can even get hired on at 15 (most places will not hire until your 16) then the minimum wage is 5.15 an hour. Anything over id be happy to get when your 15. I wouldnt complain because there is always another 15 or 16 or 17 year old that will do the same work for that price

At Will Employment = all workers interior the U. S. are at will workers until they artwork under a union settlement. This regulation is the strongest anti-slavery regulation interior the country. It lets you quit at any time without or with observe. This comparable regulation facilitates employers to end your employment for any reason, at any time as long because of the fact the reason isn't consistent with secure class discrimination. Time checklist rounding = interior the U. S., time checklist rounding is criminal as long as time is rounded the comparable the two guidelines. maximum employers around to the three or 5 minute, despite if some will do it as much as 15minutes. - What this suggests with 3 minute rounding that in case you clock in a single minute early or one minute previous due, you would be seen the comparable. the place as in case you clock in who minutes early you would be paid for 3 minutes and in case you clock in 2 minutes previous due, you will count as 3 minutes previous due. incorrect pay verify = in case you receive an incorrect pay verify and it incredibly is not related to rounding, your organization could be required to appropriate your pay on the subsequent verify. time beyond regulation value = California, Washington, and Colorado have each and on a daily basis time beyond regulation regulations. Tennessee would not. time beyond regulation in TN is over 40 hours in a week at a million.5% universal wages and over 60 hours in a week is double time. until the employees are working better than 40 hours in a week there could be no time beyond regulation earned and the corporate isn't breaking any hard artwork regulation. earnings will enhance = there is not any requirement interior the U. S. that earnings will enhance in no way happen. the only jobs that grant earnings will enhance each 3 months are low end positions. as quickly as you graduate college, you would be fortunate to get a advance as quickly as a 365 days, despite if it incredibly is totally available it incredibly is much less in many cases.

It is most likely a state law and not federal. However I do not think a state would create such a law, just a law with how many hours can be worked and what types of jobs can be performed. I would contact your states Bureau of Labor.

there is no maximum, but there is maximum hours he/she can work, which makes her less desirable to said company, which makes her get less money.
companies do have the right to say no to pay hikes and also to place pay caps on employees, especially those with such limited work experience/availability.
