My boss originally hands out our working schedule every two weeks. When we needed to ask for days off or shift the days, we may tell her before the new schedule is out and she would make changes. Right now she hands out the schedule 2 days before a new week starts and tells us that she doesn't want to accommodate us for changing dates. If we have doctor's appointment or need to run some errands, we need to ask our co-workers for changes. This would be fine, except my boss only hands out schedule 2 days or 1 day before the new week starts and refuses to put it back biweekly. Is there something we can do to make it better? Can my boss do that?

The superior has the discretion to give out the schedules as long as it not against the provisions of the Labor Code such as being oppressive or abusive against the employees. Anyway, request for a meeting with higher management so that a procedure will be followed regarding the giving out of schedules and changes.

I think your boss can set it up however they want to. What you can do is make an appointment two weeks ahead of time and request that day off with your boss. If you need an emergency shift off, call in or try to switch with a co-worker. Its not very accomidating of her to do this, but I don't think theres much else you can do.
I'd look for a different job, she seems like a b****

your boss can do that

She probably did it because it was getting too difficult to accommodate all the changes everyone wanted
Now the onus is on you to change with a co worker, who should be accommodating as they may need the same favour next week.
Maybe she was getting annoyed at the number of changes

Yes, your boss can legally do that. I suggest you lodge a complaint with the human resources department of your company.

Of course they can. Unless you quit or buy the company.

Legally, a company can run their business as they see fit as long as they fall within the law or federal regulations. And this is not a violation of any law or Federal regulation.
