ok if ya have to wear seatbelts while you are in your own car, how come kids don't have to wear them on schoolbuses? And what about the people riding in the back of pickup trucks? Can't tell me they have their seatbelts on. And do you feel it is right for anyone to tell you that you have to wear a helmet when you are on a motorcycle? Yes it is safer, but it is just you that is gonna get all mangled up if you wreck? It isn't gonna hurt anyone else. What happened to freedom of choice. But I do believe lil' kids should be buckeled up, they move around to much an it distractes the driver and kids always should come first. I just worry about the belts locking and not being able to get the lose if I need to.

the other night a friend and I were in Walmart at about 2AM killing time waiting for our friendto get off work. As we wre leaving the night manager yelled at us from across the parking lot to come back towards the enterance. I handed my bag to my friend because it had the car keys in it and told her to get in the car while I figured out what the lady wanted. I walked over to the lady and she told me to give her my bag. I asked her why, since no alarms had gone off, i don't shoplift. She screamed for security, at which point I finally I said , fine here you go, showed her what was in my bag and did not let her go through the items and she started yelling that my friend had dumped things out of it into the car when she took the bag with her to get my keys out of it. At which point another employee ran up to the car and started staring in all the windows.I want to know, what are my rights in a situation like that. Can a store demand to go through your things with virtualy no reason?

This June I had planned to go to Spain for a graduation present through Explorica. In March, in preparation for my trip, I applied for a passport on the 9th. At the time they told me it would take 6-8 weeks to recieve it. 8 weeks came and went so I called the nat'l passport info center to inquire: they changed the process time to 10-12 weeks. As my trip approached requests were put on my passport to expediate the process. Time moved forward so I called my congessman, who also submitted expedition requests(b/w the NPIC and my congressman 5 requests were submitted total). We reached theThursday before my flight( we concluded that had we not recieved it by Thurs we'd go to Chicago to the regional centeron Fri) on that Thurs we were told that it was finished and would be sent out that night (b/c of this, we didn't go to Chi) We called the NPIC to check it and we were told it wasn't even finished. Long story short I missed my trip. Is there anything I can do to get my $ back from any party?

Based on the nature of the parole violation that she's guilty of, most people would have only received 2 or 3 days in jail. They gave her 45, and they kept bouncing her in and out of jail, which must have been very dificult for her. Was her sentence and her treatment unduly harsh?

The Patriot Act has all but eliminated the need for judges to sign warrents - The police now decide what where when and who -

There are laws now (Patriot Act) that allow for arrest without charge and without trial -

Torture has been defended by the President and the CIA is now retroactively absolved from criminal charges in reguard to what used to be crimes against humanity

The Presdential directive twined with the Homeland security directive goives the President the power to suspend elections and run all 3 branch's of government throught the secratary of the Homeland security

A camp has been set up off shore because the government wishes to avoid existing laws in the the US - They have and are consistantly working twords abolishing those laws

Free Speech zones have been set up Where one can no longer be seen protesting the President or seaking of certain things within so many yards -
No free speech here - but say what you like over there - Is that ok with you?

I was at a party where most of the people were 21. Me and a few others were under 21. The cops busted the party and as people were leaving they had to show ids. Mine was in an apartment across the hall, and the police saw I was underage. I got all my information written down. However, they did not breathalize me or even see me holding alcohol of any kind. They said they would send a citation to my house, but they did not say what it was. I am not a minor, but I am underage. Can they give me an underage just for being somewhere that of age people were drinking?

Tomorrow I am going to a Small Church to meet with the people who corrdinate the weddings. I wanted to make my own contract up so hopefully my needs will be clear and understood. Would it be legal to make my own? Would I need a notary to make it legal? The only person who has athority in the church to sign is the minister and he is not doing our service. A minister friend is. The church does not have their own contracts they just pencil you down when you make your down payment.
Also, the church does not take credit cards, so If I make my down payment to secure the date and they screw me over I won't get the $$ back. I have read so many stories on the net about brides being ripped off I want to make sure I am covered!
Does anyone have a suggestion?

I was served today with a summons for an Order Of Protection from my ex-girlfriend, stemming from a previous incident. I know that it is her right to request something like this, but I have not had any contact with her whatsoever since the incident (like she asked). I have made no attempt to contact her through any means, and the last time I spoke to her, I apologized and was not at all hostile or threatening. Basically, I have had no intention of contacting her, and certainly no intention of harming her in any way -- so I am confused why this is necessary.

Anyway, since I wasn't able to get a hold of a lawyer tonight, my question is this:
What does this emergency order mean? Can you file a request for an order of protection by itself, or does this mean there must be criminal and/or civil proceedings on the way?

I feel like I have been taken advantage of by my previous landlord in which I lived in a building for a year (last year) with numerous violations including:

-random repair men walking in my bedroom without knocking or notice
-not making repairs
-mold on walls
-no smoke detector/fire alarm
-landlord let a homeless man sleep in basement in exchange for maitenance work like painting etc
-rungs missing in fire escape
-main door broken for weeks on end, allowing anyone from the street to walk in to the building

she withheld my security deposit because of "cleaning the entire apartment" (which was never done, and attested by the current renters), and "storage fee" which she never informed me of, and "wall damage" which there is none and she never showed me what was "damaged."

i am so lost and have no idea what to do. im not trynig to sue for thousands, i just want my security deposit back... i am a poor college kid...

I signed up for service on a Monday, canceled on Wednesday. They sent me a bill for $83.16 saying there is a cancelation fee. I was not given that information prior to signing up, nor was I told when I called to cancel. They never came to install service and yet keep sending me a bill. I have written them letters stating I want to hear the tape of the conversation since they said the call was monitored and they have not given me any such tape. I just KNOW there are other consumers who have gone through the same thing. I think something should be done about this. I have been writting to them and at one time someone called me and said I would be getting a credit, however two months passed and then I just received another bill for over $100. Someone please help me!

OTTAWA (Reuters) - Canadian officials are investigating what appears to be a batch of counterfeit toothpaste that was found in Toronto, Health Minister Tony Clement said on Wednesday.

The suspected fakes are labeled "Colgate" and have markings indicating they came from South Africa. Similar tubes, complete with grammatical errors, have been found in discount stores in four U.S. states.

"We do have inspectors and investigators who are on the scene and who are busy analyzing the product to see whether there is any kind of health hazard," Clement told Parliament.

"The best advice I can give until that investigation is complete is buyer beware ... In this particular case what has happened is not acceptable."

Colgate-Palmolive Co. says counterfeit toothpaste that may contain the toxic chemical diethylene glycol poses a low health risk.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has warned consumers to avoid any toothpaste made in China

My oppinion is that abotion is ok since it can help several people through stem cells, but for people to not worry about safe sex and just let themselves get pregnant because they can always abort is just wrong. I want to know what you think.

I am being sued because 3 years ago i was driving down a parking lot (not on the lines, on the way to an exit) and a old man in a van ran over the parking spaces and hit me. He got off and apologized to me for hitting me. then a witness who saw the aftermath ( see did not see the accident ) conspired stories right in front of me and she convinced him to suit me. He then called the police and we waited 2 hrs for police to come and i had to leave because i was pregnant and i was hurting (the steering wheel hit my stomach and the stress was intolerable). The police never came out to do a report on the accident because they were so busy. There were no cameras, pictures, or other CREDIBLE witnesses around. I felt that i was being scammed and targeted. I wrote a letter to the insurance company and the refused to suit me because i could counter suit if anything happed to my baby.what do the statue of limitation say? will it go on my credit if i lose. what will happen if i lose or don't go.

My girlfriend has worked for the same company for nearly 3 years. In that time she has never had a review or a raise and has generally been mistreated. Her human resources department was shocked to discover this and she was told by her boss that she would get a review in a week. That was 3 weeks ago and now the company changed her boss and pretty much disolved her department. They then told her the review was going to be pushed out 2 weeks. Her coworker is currently on vacation and she's covering both jobs for two weeks. They told her they would give her a review when her coworker came back. They are now interviewing for new hires and based on the testing they are doing it sounds like it's for her department and a lot of employees there are telling her it looks like they are looking to fire someone in her department and that she should keep an eye out over her sholder. Can they fire her for asking for a raise/review? If they do can she persue a law suit? She has emails on some of this

When A4C was introduced into NHS my management wrote a job description (JD) outlining my role. They were told to write the JD to list the skills and qualifications required if replacing us, not necessarily the qualifications we held (eg. someone in post for 20 years may not have a degree but had on job training, if replacing would ask for degree). Professional registration has just been introduced to our scientific field but my collegues & myself had not been encouraged to apply or told of its importance. The JD writen by my management listed registration as they would require it if they had to replace us. Management told us to sign the JD & accept the contract on this basis. 2 years later senior trust management realised we didn't have registration & said we were not eligable to this pay scale & that they wanted the overpayment back. As I accepted the contract & pay in good faith on guidance of my management surely they cant ask 4 money back, just give notice of change of contract.

I have really bad parents, physical, emotional, lots of abuse. I joined the military to get away from them, and never visit. My parents have always lived off the gov't. My question comes because I only keep in contact with my older brother and he informed me that they once again took out another loan.
I read on here that I won't be responsible for their debts, but I also don't want to be responsible for their funeral. How do I protect myself from having to pay for their funeral?
I want nothing to do with them. I have a family of my own now and the last thing I need is to have to pay for their funeral because I have more money than my brother. I'm not rich, not even middle class, but I don't want to have to take out a loan. They do own a house so I'm hoping my brother can take care of all that stuff and pay for everything by selling all they have. My mom is suicidal so you never know when she'll do it for real. Do I need to see a lawyer? It may be sad but living in abuse is worse.
