i would like to know if anyone agree's, that if the parents of missing madeliene where 18/25 yrs old and from a council estate and left there kids in an apartment while they went out for a quiet meal, would our great nation be backing them with funds to stay out there whilst the police search the area??

i think not

chances are that they would be dreadful parents and would have to stay in portugal for fear of of beng lynched when they got home.

don't get me wrong i do feel for the mcann family but can't help thinking that it could be so different.

Can one sue to get a straight answer about "Why did this happen" when the law (and/or corporate policy) was misapplied to hurt you...and there is no physical damage or money lost, but only emotional trauma?

He's on disability because he needs to get back surgery. She's already taken him to court for back child support, which he can't afford because he's not working. But since she learned she's not getting paid out that way she's coming to my son's baseball practice's and photographing him coaching the kids. The Dr's told him to get out and move around. Telling kids to run and catch isn't all that strenuous. She's told him that if he doesn't promise to pay her some of his settlement (from the accident that caused him to need surgery) that she'll show the pictures of him. I'm not worried about the pics, it's that she's creeping around, and vindictive. I'm afraid she'll do something destructive, she has a record of being suicidal, she's thrown things near our children, and she's wished that my son never existed! I told him to get a restraining order and he thinks that with out any evidence we don't really have anything to go on. I want to protect my family.

My niece has worked for the same company for over 10 years. She was promoted to a supervisory position with lots more money. Last week she was demoted back to her old position (and her pay was cut), because the company says they want someone in that position who is bilingual. Can they just do that to her?

I will be taking the June 2nd SAT and need a non driver photo ID ASAP! I am 17 but do not have my license. I have my civil birth certificate and my legal name change papers ( I have my SS card but it does not have my current last name on it) and will be heading to the DMV this week. Am I too late? Or will I get it in time?

Story: A woman's husband passes away and leaves behind a debt of close to $13,000 from a bank loan. He left in his bank account under $5,000 and also some stocks worth about $6,000.

The husband had no will and it has been almost a year and still the wife has not filled the paper work to claim herself as the executor of his estate.

She is concerned that the debt will fall upon her. She is an unemployed, low-income senior citizen.

They had one child who is a married adult.

What should the widow do? She has no idea how to proceed and everyone gives conflicting information.

Serious law info only please!

How long does the states attorney office have to decide on whether they want to press charges?

A coworker of mine was turned into the police for alleged sexual relations by his 16 yo gfs parents. He is more than 5 years older than her so he is facing a felony if convicted.

The detective told him that the report would be turned into the states attorney office and they would decide whether or not to prosecute. Almsot a month has gone by and he has heard nothing. Her 17 b-day is in 2 months meaning she will then be legal in the state of illinois.

He is madly in love with this girl but is afraid if he ever even bumps into her by accident that the cops will be taking him away. Should he never talk to her again even when she is of age?

Pregnancy is one of those protected things you can't discriminate against. When it comes to employment, I know you can't be refused a job because of a current (or intended) pregnancy. But I'm a freelancer. As a potential contractor (not employee), if I'm refused work directly because of my "condition" is that just as illegal? Thanks in advance!

I had to laugh! A father put in for his 10 month old kid to get a gun permit - and got it! Must be a really tough neighborhood!

http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/05/15/baby.gun.ap/index.html

Although the dad did this mainly on a whim, I can see that this kid will not grow up to be a victim in the making like most other kids are. He will at least know how to use a gun and be able to protect himself and others with it. Whether or not he chooses to keep using it during his adult life, at least he can make a decision on it. I give kudos to his dad for doing it. The earlier you learn about the proper use of guns and weapons, the least likely you are to actually use them.

About a week ago, I was fired from my state job for political reasons. My boss's boss said that they had to let me go because I serve at the pleasure of the appointing authority which is the Governor and the Secretary of my agency. We had an election six months ago. I was told after the election by the CEO of my agency who was a held over from my former govenror that he wanted to keep me but he lied. My bosse's boss said the same thing. I told him in my exit interview that you guys said I have nothing to worry about as long as I keep to myself which I always do. My Boss's boss says I didn't know what the CEO of our agency was thinkng. Yeah right. They all claimed it was nothing against my work, it is because they wanted to clean house. I found out last weekend at my now former coworkers wedding that they are planning to replace my immeidate supervisor, myself and transfer him to another department with better salary.
