If you, as an American or as a foreigner with an opinion on the USA, could choose between strict(and I mean STRICT) gun controls, or fully endorsed, legal abortion, which would you pick?

Being a Brit and seeing the curent situation in America, I just wanted to know what checks if any, what age, cost and of type of gun you are allowed to buy. And what restrictions are there on carrying the weapon around, are you allowed to walk around the streets legally with one? Do you have to take some kind of test to see if you are of 'sound mind' to have one? Is it true that you can walk into a supermarket and browse through a selection of guns alongside the cereals and pasta?

I understand that the rules may change from state to state, but wanted an outline of how easy it is to obtain one, legally?

Yesterday i withdrawed some cash from ICICI bank from teller - not from ATM - and since i didnt need to use it by evening i went back to deposit it.. While accepting money, the bank person identified that one 500 Rs note is fake. The next step is to call police and file FIR. In fact that note bundle was given by same bank on same day itself.. But bank is not ready to accept it , and the reason they are saying is that bank will never issue fake notes and that i can replace a note in the bundle before remitting it back.. Finalyy they tore the note and gave me back and end reslult is i lost Rs.500/- Can any one help me to know that whether there is any law that will help the customer in such cases.. Individuals may not be able to identify fake notes in a bundle and same may happenagain.. what step can we take to avoid such situations further ?

If you buy it yourself, doesn't it become your property, and shouldn't you have the right to do what you want with it?

the possibilities to sell gun, today ???
Here, in France, we think that the possibilitie to buy gun and to use them is very dangerous. And today, in the XXI century, we have to try to live together without gun.
I think that America people need to evolve and to improve the way to live together.

All kinds of people are questioning our gun laws in the United States and some polticians are questioning our gun laws. The facts are that this mass murderer was an alien who came from South Korea to study after being in the US awhile. The US gave him every opportunity to prosper and he ended up being a deranged immigrant that wasn't even a US citizen. After 9-11 I don't think non citizens should be able to buy guns in this country.. But you won't hear the gun control people say that... They will only use this as a reason for gun control of all of us... There was allready laws against taking guns on that campus.. So what laws would have helped? NONE... There is too many rights afforded to non citizens that should be curtailed.. Why should Americans be critisized around the world for the actions of a crazy immigrant who's parents and the college didn't do anything about. If students could have carried a gun to school... They would have been able to defend themselves. Bottom Line!!!!

Well, I got many answers about the "homo" thing. Let's step it up a notch with an issue constantly talked about: that's right Abortion! This debate is really driving me nuts. Why are we still fighting about this? Hello? Roe v. Wade ring a bell? The pro-lifers are against it, but support the death penalty and war. Talking about being a hypocrite. Its a woman's choice on what she will do. I don't see anything wrong with it. It will never be changed, never! So stop trying to push your "pro-life" agenda. There are too many mouths to feed any damn way. If you want kids, then you have them. That's your problem. If three hours of sleep, stinky diapers, constant crying, and money out of your pocket is your thing, then hey, by all means. Worry about your own life, not someone else's. Some of us want a life without the white picket fence, wife and three kids, upper middle class tv fantasy bull****. When I come home, if I don't want to cook, I don't have to. Take a shower and sleep. Pro-abortion!

Virginia Tech to my knowledge is a "gun free zone". Meaning that no one is allowed to carry a consealed weapon. In some states, this kind of gun control policy would include police and security officers. The shooter in VT would have abosolutely no worries about anyone in the school shooting back.

In my state, I see signs in businesses entrance and schools that read "NOTICE--Possision of a concealed weapon is prohibited". Are these businesses inviting criminals to rob them and commit crimes? If society permits these practices of gun control, why not practice the same at home?

Just answer my original question. I was just trying to bring up the issue.

"Homicide rates tend to be related to firearm ownership levels. Everything else being equal, a reduction in the percentage of households owning firearms should occasion a drop in the homicide rate".

Evidence to the Cullen Inquiry 1996: Thomas Gabor, Professor of Criminology - University of Ottawa

"The level of gun ownership world-wide is directly related to murder and suicide rates and specifically to the level of death by gunfire."

International Correlation between gun ownership and rates of homicide and suicide.' Professor Martin Killias, May 1993.

If a CCW (concealed carry weapons) law were allowed in Virginia, I believe the gunman would have been stopped long before 32 (that number does not include the gunman) people were killed. If other people carried a weapon they could have stopped the killer.
