There are no laws on the books making it illegal to burn a flag. The most recent attempt at a flag-burning amendment fell one vote short in the Senate last year.

Does anyone do the due diligence and research before asking stupid questions?

It ins't illegal here in the US to burn a flag or any kind including this country's flag. Alot of people find it disgusting and hateful, but it is a person's right to express their opinion whether it is for or against this country, it's one of the things that makes this country a wonderful place to live in. And you are supposed to burn the flag when it is damaged or old in a respectful manor.

a flag has more to do with a country's pride and identity adn not the simple reason of just buying! Otherwise i can make a flag similar to the USA's and then sue anybody who uses it once i patent it.

To burn a flag therefore is tantamount to undermining a people... a people with an identity and pride... and that makes it illegal

i believe that's still the case, some people just got arrested a few weeks ago, the charges were that they destroyed someone elses property. But if they don't have any other charges to file against you, they'll make something up like not having a permit or being too close to buildings, thus arresting you anyway. That's what they call the system.

Freedom of speech and expression is perfectly legal. But if burning a flag instills the constitutions of a hate crime or gentrification/genocide, its something to take into consideration and whether or not you think its right or wrong.

See that i am answering from indian perspective...its not illegal to burn the flags of other countries. But indeed it's not something appreciated..The flags are symbols of the uniqueness of a country .. They represent the country as a whole. So we are bringing disrespect for a country if we do that....

Actually in the USA when a flag gets old and tattered you are supposed to burn it in a ceremonial kind of way.

You have a good point. Shows how we aren't really free. Someone somewhere has too much power and likes to throw their weight around. That plus just dumb diversionary tactics to throw you off the real issues.
