The child support amount in any state is based on a number of things: 1) how much custody each party has 2) the amount of "potential income" for both mom and dad at the time the order is established (if one party is not working because they are a stay at home mom or dad or because of they have been unemployed for the last year that usually they will calculate that person's income on the minimum wage in the state where that individual lives) 3) daycare and medical expenses that are shared by parties. If dad is providing daycare for the child, the child support amount would be lower for him if hadn't paid for daycare.

Contact the local child support agency nearest you http://www.childsup.cahwnet.gov/ to see if they can help you in your situation.
