I saw a man speaking who worked at an enclosed unit for people who had commited severe crime. It is for those who are considered to have diminished responsibility due to mental illness during the crime-event.
He believed in the "second chance" policy for all. But what is meant by "second chance" in our society? We have jail time and compulsory-treatment time. And in the end-if the experts and Judge decide the person may come free into society.

Does "second chance" in terms of jail/treatment release mean that society gives you a second chance?
Does "second chance" in terms of jail/treatment release mean that you can give yourself a second chance?

Is there actually such thing as "second chance" after sever-crime?

It really doesnt make sense. Is the reason morality-based or is it safety-based? safety from what point of view? Answers to similar questions said something about murder...but bondage and SM can get out of hand....not to mention infection( HIV is a death sentence in itself) and other things...so what is the real reason.....so what is the answer........or is it just another reflection of the hypocritical society we live in?

I just switched auto insurance carriers. So at this time I have both policies in effect. Would it be considered fraud if I were to wreck my vehicle and claim the damage on both policies?

My boyfriend worked at an instant oil change place for about 7 months when he fell off the catwalk and injured his back. He went to the doctor and wasn't able to work for almost a month per doctors request. He was recieving workman's comp. during that time and kept up all doctors appts and therapy and kept in touch with theh company's insure company. The day he was released to work from the doctor, he went to his job and said he was able to work again and to be put on the schedule. However, his boss simply said, "well we are going to have to let you go." He is now in the process of filing for unemployment but I heard that a company cannot simply fire you when you are able to come back to the job after a work related injury. What legal steps can we take to compensate for this confusion and total b.s?

......that suggest laws differ from state to state. WOW.
Is this true? How do these guys cope with that? In UK....it's the law of the land.....not the law of the state. I'm not saying one system is better than the other, and of course, the States is a much bigger country. I just wondered what y'all thought?

I received a legal document for eviction this morning.. it says that i failed to pay the rent for February. I did leave a check under the office door like i usually do and paid it with a check... i checked my bank to see if it cleared and it didn't.. I am now worried that it either got lost or someone deliberately misplaced my check.. now i have to go to court for this mess. it says that i can contest the claim and pay the required fees on or before the trial date.I have no idea what that means? does that mean i can pay and continue to stay here with the eviction being cleared? or does it mean i have to pay and move out with it still affecting my credit and going on my record? Please help me out with this situation because i am very confused as to why i'm even getting evicted... I went to the office after i picked up the document under my door and tried to pay.. the secretary said she couldnt take my payment and i showed her the original carbon copy check i wrote back in February.

I always wonder about these over-the-counter supplements that aren't approved by the FDA. Do they really have the amount of ingredients they claim? For instance, a typical bottle of creatine comes with 5 grams per serving. Some tests have already shown some manufacturers to have as little as 2 grams.

Is it legal for a store to not accept change. I was at the gas pump and had a roll of quarters $10 the lady said she cant accept that. I was heated and after 10 mins of me and other customers giving her hell she still didnt accpent it. Is this something that is ok for them to do. Quarters are legal us currecny just as good as a $100 bill. I think this cumberland farms store is rediculous. Discriminate against people who dont got big bills and only change.

According to the news more vets returning from Iraq are from rural areas. Some have to travel hundreds of miles to get to a Vet Hospital. Why hasnt the government abolished those places and given the Vets who gave their all for our country the equivalent to an insurance card good at any hospital? 1.It would be closer access for them and their medical needs. 2.It would be a better standard for our ailing vets for recieving healthcare. Anyone else have anything to add?

He was arrested for something that he didn't show up to court for ten years ago. His bond is a thousand dollars, which I can't afford to pay. What happens now? Does he stay in jail until his court date? Then what?
He was in trouble ten years ago for a DWYA, or something. Its like a step below a DUI. I don't think they even do them anymore.

My 15 year old child went to BYOB establishment w/out my consent. She was taken by ambulance under the assumption of alcholic poisoning. Owners of this place know minors are drinking but are being protected due to the fact they are not serving acholic. Police came to hospital to write her a minor in comsumption ticket before lab work ever came back. I do not understand how this can continue to happen. Many other minors there had been drinking and many adults were contributing. Should she be the only one held liable for this? What happened to tagging minors to know if they were old enough to be drinking or not? Pay your $10 come on in and find an adult half intoxicated and have all you want is the sounds of it. Yes she should be punishedd but is she the only one? TABC has had hard times doing something since this place carries no license. The thought sickens me. The law enforcement stated Thank God she isnt here for a rape kit, its common for adults to TANK UP YOUNG GIRLS
