This is dependant on local ordinances. The idea behind such ordinances is to control the parking so that there is available parking for businesses. That is, a 1 hour parking metered period would not be extended so that other customers would have the opportunity to reach other businesses.

At least that is parking on streets near businesses. Here some city ordinances provide writing citations for extending the meter time.

When meters are used in parking lots there can be a completely different intent. That is to provide parking for the long term. Here the meters are fed money to cover the cost of the lot and feeding the meter extra money is okay.

In some cities sure. the reason you've been to in reality park see you later in the front of a organization. they did not wish you to overly inconvenience the subsequent purchaser. could examine each and each city's code in this one. Or they nonetheless have cut-off dates you are able to park for on the books before Meters were invented. This became to stay away from one man or woman from hogging each and each of the reliable parking.

Why do you think it's illegal to put money in someone else's meter? How could you be found guilty of compassion for your fellow man? Please continue to put a coin in an almost overdue meter. If a meter reader is right there I think it could be wrong but heck try to help a fellow out.
