For those that responded to my earlier question by saying that my niece should have been fired, you're missing my point I think. I dont have a problem with her being fired, I have a problem with people making comments that women who have children should work at home. Im not looking for help from an attorney, just want to know if her rights were violated in any way by the comment by human resources.

I was wondering what the 'definition' is of mental abuse. What things must occur in order for mental abuse to have taken place? I am looking for specific things, I have a general idea of what mental abuse is, like putting you down and making you feel like dirt. Does mental abuse have anything to do with 'turning someone against another person'. I am just not sure where that plays in to mental abuse. Like alienating a parent against a child or vice versa, is that mental abuse or just Parental Alienation Syndrom?

my niece was fired yesterday for missing too many days at work for being sick, her children, etc. The human resources dept at her job told her among other things: "when children are involved, maybe you should work from home. I was totally upset at this comment and feel it's discriminating against any woman with children. What do you think? Should she contact anyone about the comment even tho that's not why she was fired? Thanks!

Hello:
I write arbitration contentions for inter-company Insurance arbitrations. I am very successful at writing the contentions for Applicant and Respondent cases. I win over 95% of the cases.
I don't have a degree, and I'm wondering if there is a career path other than being an attorney that I could pursue.
I am not adverse to going back to school, but at my age, it wouldn't be very convenient.
Can any of you point me in a direction?
Thank you.

I live in Illinois and I was wondering how it would work if I chose for my children not to see their biological father. I have many reasons for this...
1) He does NOT pay child support
2) He only calls to see the kids when it is convienent for him
3) He has warrants in both Illinois and Wisconsin for non payment of child support
4) He is "hiding out" from the cops because of these warrants---if they arrest him, he will automatically go for 90 days.
5) He (as I was informed by his father) is hanging out with "crackheads"

What is your opinion on this? Can I keep the kids away from him without getting into trouble myself?

I recall reading how blacks were whipped and had screws pulled out of their bodies by Americans not too long ago. Does the "land of the free" still do this? They were using blacks for inhumane experiments long after the phrase "land of the free" was used. Will the Iraqis be free like the blacks were? It's the "American way" of course, say one thing be another.

In a recent news release from United Press International, they state that according to FBI statistics, there is an increased number of gangs that are forming from the Internet. The following is a copy/pasted article, which states the following facts. WHAT DO YOU THINK?

U.S. street gangs use Internet to recruit
By UPI Staff
United Press International
February 21, 2007

WASHINGTON (UPI) -- The U.S. Justice Department said gang membership is rising in the United States as the groups increasingly use the Internet for recruitment.

Statistics from the department show that there are more than 21,000 gangs in the country with more than 700,000 members and those numbers are increasing, ABC News reported Tuesday.

The department said the groups use "Net Banging," the use of online content glorifying the gang lifestyle, to recruit children as young as 8 years.

"The concerns you have with that generation is they do not have a criminal history. And so because they do not have a criminal history, we don't have a lot of information on them," Wichita, Kan., Police Chief Norman Williams of the younger gang members, told ABC.

Chip Burress, assistant director of the FBI's Criminal Division, said the gang problem is a major concern.

"It's not becoming an epidemic, it is an epidemic," he said.

In all 50 states, the legal age is generally different than the drinking age. This leads me to ask you:
Would you vote to make them both the same ?
Which age would you pick :18 or 21 ?
Would you vote for it to be the standard throughout the 50 states rather than have so many different ones ?
