Get it in writing. I had the same problem with the State of Kansas Child Support office -- they said I was behind on my child support when I wasn't. When I called them and talk to someone, I asked them to mail me a letter stating that I was current. Not only was I current, but I'd overpaid by about $13 and got a refund check.

Call them back, get the name of the person you're talking to (and their title), and ask them to send you a letter stating that the original letter threatening you with court action was incorrect.

Tell the good old TV Gestapo that you have a Licence and tell them that any more letters will result in a complaint to the Local Police under the "PROTECTION FROM HARRASMENT ACT" also remind them that obtaining or attempting to extract money by threats is illegal and is classed as obtaining money by menances.

Also remember to include in your letter "that you are withdrawing the implied right of access to your property and if any officers or agents of Capita / TV Licencing attempt or do go onto your property then they will be tresspassing and the local police will be called". If they do want to go to your property they can always get a warrant from the court (which will cost them money so they rarely do unless they have very very solild evidence, otherwise they may not get it granted and loose the money).

First of all - don't worry!! You've got the licence, you've contacted them in response to their letters, so they can't do anything. My advice would be just to ignore the letters. I think they send letters out automatically, whether you've got a licence or not. I was in the same situation as you before, getting heaps and heaps of threatening letters; I ignored them all and they never took any court action against me.

Turn the tables. If you have proof of a license threaten to take them to court for harassment. The letters should soon stop, or let them take you to court, show them up i front of the judge and claim compensation.

Make sure to write down the name of the person you speak to and the date and time when you ring so that you have proof because they all record the calls and after that all you can do is ignore it.

Same exact thing happened to us. I gave up trying after a while, binned the letters and they eventually stopped coming.

Write and e-mail them letting them know you have had enough of
them. That if you receive any more you will bring a private prosecution for harassment.A neighbour of mine a couple of years
ago did this.He received a huge sorry letter.

Write a nasty letter complaining about the harassment, and include a photocopy of the license. If that doesn't do it, contact your MP's office.

All you can do is ring/write to them agin, and record when you did this to back you up. They have nothing on you, its their own admin error so its their problem
