In all 50 states, the legal age is generally different than the drinking age. This leads me to ask you:
Would you vote to make them both the same ?
Which age would you pick :18 or 21 ?
Would you vote for it to be the standard throughout the 50 states rather than have so many different ones ?

Iam 19 but I would say 21. YOu cannot appropriatly enforce the drinking age amongst legals (18 year olds). So the fed gov should either a) lower the drinking age or B) higher the legal age, WHY does a young one say this? because so many youths take advantage of being legal and being on their own that most grown adults assume they are always drinking. If I got stoped by a cop he would probably have me take a breathaliser test. also If I was 18 and got caught speeding and challenged the ticket in court, The jury or judge will automatically write me off as a deliquent simply because iam young and will assume that I drink even without proof at all. There is no judge alive that would not be biased on that. My opinion, for the rights of young american legal citizens to be honored (which they are not ) THese two ages of legality must be consistant and not so far apart. I pretty much can get hand picked and falsely arrested for underage drinking, unlawful arrests happen everywhere because of this ( i have seen it happen the brethalyzer test does not need to be used as evidence, thus if they can convince the judge that you were drinking without proof, and they can, your charged) . If I was still considered a minor my parents could challenge this no sweat and would run the prosecution over. I bet this does have correlation with the raise of the drinking age in the first place (not full reason but related) so that law enforcement could meet quotas more easily. (of course there was prolly noble reasoning behind it, drunk driving deaths did decrease, but they have risen again)

21. I was "grandfathered in" in my state when the drinking age went from 18 to 19, then 20 and finally 21. I was very irresponsible at that age and felt (as most teens do) indestructible. Many kids at 18 feel like they know how to handle alchohol. They really don't.
Drinking, fighting, voting, and having babies should all be put off until you're 21.

I'd vote to make them both the same and I'd set them at 21. They raised the drinking age because so many 18-year-olds were getting killed in drunk driving accidents (READ: The 18-year-olds weren't mature enough to be responsible) and in this day and age I don't think 18-year-olds are mature enough to understand democracy in action, especially since so many of them are educated by the TV and believe everything spewed forth from the mainstream liberal media. So, 21 for both says I.

I like it where it is, 18 is a legal Adult and 21 to purchase alcohol.
The spin is, if you enlist I think you should be able to drink on base in controlled areas. Many 18 y.o. kids in the Military drink when they go overseas, without much incident...

Although I am not for a young age to drink, I do beleive that if you are old enough to vote ( 18 ) you should be old enough to buy BEER, not the hard stuff, for that I think you should be 21. I always said that if you are old enough to be drafted, you should be old enough to drink beer.

If you can be sent to war at 18, you should be able to legally drink. I'd vote for it nationwide.
