I was backing out of my friend's driveway, and a mom hit in a minivan rearended me.
I did not see her as I was backing out, and I was already on the road when she hit me.
It seemed she may have been speeding.

I pulled over, she didn't even get out of her car.
My back bumper is pretty messed up.
She didn't seem to notice.
She asked if there was any damage to her car, I told her know.

I apologized, even though I shouldn't have.

She told me "I have to get to school. I'm late" and drove away"

I didn't realize how much damage was done to my car.
My entire suspension is messed up.
My car is squeaking.
And my boyfriend who is a mechanic says that there is probably uch more additional damage, but he can't tell until he looks at it (he's at work)

I know the woman.
I mean, not personally.
But It's not a huge town.
And I know her name.

If I call the police department, can anything happen?
I can't afford to fix this.
And I don't feel it was my fault.

I am a Nurse Aide and I just vollunteered to Respite a man who is bedridden. I was told by the vollunteer leader that I cannot touch any person (no transfer-no touching)
I could be sued and lose my home if they would fall or get hurt.
I said I would not touch them. But is this really a case where I could get sued and lose everything I have worked my life for?

I am only asking because of the unfortunate situation that Brandy is facing. In a question that someone asked on here, everyone seemed to respond by saying anyone else would be charged and go to jail, and felt that because Brandy is a celebrity, she is getting special treatment. I really don't feel that way, and really did not think that people being charged with vehicular homicide after an accident was common at all. In fact, I have never heard of this occuring unless it was a DWI, which is not the case in this situation.

I have always hated driving and have always been scared of the idea that I am controling a deadly weapon. The idea that if I make a mistake and kill someone never sits well with me and I drive only when I have to. However, it never crossed my mind that I could end up in jail if I had an accident that was my fault. Does this really happen as often as the people that answered that question suggest.

This likely scam does not ask for personal Bank details or money to be exchanged to get winnings.
However, it does ask for:
occupation
sex
marital status
address
private contact numbers and e-mail
next of kin
etc.
It supposedly came out of National Lottery, Liverpool.
My belief is that it is potential identity fraud, think we all ought to be careful of this one.

I've been with my gf for 12 months now,She graduated High School in November, she has a job,I have a job,I'll be 20 in september, she'll be 20 in November...We're both sure about this decision, she wants to move in and I want her to move in..The Problem of course, her parents,They're treating her like she's 12,I know BY LAW,they can't hold her,but they don't care, they think they can control her forever, her dad is the redneck-type and is emphatically saying NO..My GF has talked to her mom about it,she says that she can move out (even though she doesn't need permission,we're trying to do it the formal way) but when it comes time, she goes all crazy on us,I think the dad's influence is what's stopping everything here...Seriously,what can we do? Can I get a court order or something similar stating that they cannot interfere??? Believe me when I say, this won't happen in a formal manner, they have no respect for our wishes...Thanks in Advance for any help....the more info the better.

Hi people
Has anyone else within the Community recently received notification that they have won £1m in some supposed National Lottery connected with the Web?
Probably a hoax, but at the same time looks a very genuine one.

In the cash-for-honours probe, can a mouse like Lord Goldsmtith, be trusted to be impartial on such a huge, democratic issue. He was bullied into changing his mind over Iraq, he has dropped the BAE Saudi-arms deal for political reasons. Is their any other decission he might come to than "Not Guilty as charged your Honour!"

I'm from the Netherlands, and I'm currently watching the episode "Crucified" of the series "Justice". In this episode, a 17 y/o is going to be tried as an adult for crucifying a school mate.

My questions:
Why does the DA (seem to) have the freedom to choose to try a minor as an adult? From what I gather, DAs in the US are under a lot of pressure to convict suspects and send them to jail for as long as possible. What effect does it have on the justice that is being done if opinion of the (usually not very well-informed) masses has such an impact of the toughness of the charges? It seems to me that you should be tried as an adult when you're actually an adult, and not at the whim of a DA/the masses.

Also, are there any advantages to being tried as an adult from the perspective of the accused? E.g., is the burden of proof for the DA bigger, seeing that the resulting penalty is higher for the accused?

I'm trying to see the fairness in this system, but I can't. Can anyone help me?

My father in law, an ex salesman, has been diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis and there's a slim chance that it is linked to a cleaning product that he used to sell/demonstrate for a large company that was subsequently bought out. The product is still manufactured under a different name by the new company.

His treating physician wants to examine if there's a link between the chemicals in the product and his condition. What I need is to get a list of the chemical constituents of the product (not the formula obviously). Is anyone aware of a database (COSH or suchlike) that forces new products of this type to be registered?

I do not want to contact the company who manufactures the product now, as even though this may well come to nothing and there may be no link, I dont want to prejudice any subsequent actions should it go that route.

I work at a hotel in the state of Michigan. This past weekend some guests got drunk and rowdy. To make a long story short. They knocked down a vending machine, which in turn hit the wood panel along the pay phone. I called the cops. Officers went to the rooms that I had been having trouble with. Officers told me that the door jam connecting adjoining rooms was busted. Next day owner comes to look at damage. $450. They refuse to pay. Is there a national law or state law (Michigan) that would say what can be done after the fact?

In In the Devil's Snare, Mary Beth Norton argues that Salem witchcraft episode of 1692 can only be understood by linking developments in Salem village to the Indian Wars on the Maine frontier. Her examination of a wide range sources leads her to conclude that "the assaults from the visible worlds became closely entwined in New Englanders' minds."

In your view, what do you think are the three most convincing elements in the case she builds? Explain in some detail how each of these pieces of evidence supports the book's thesis.
P.S. > Any help woud be greatly appreciated.THank you everyone

My father passed away and had a sudden death. He has one sister and she is saying that if I fight her for his home, my home at one time, she will win becuase she is the next of kin. He left me his insurance policies, which I had no idea of, she wants the house to make profit but I want the house to keep, I might sell mine and move in. I grew up in it. I spoke to a lawyer and he says that the only way I can win is if I have my Biological father and my mother give testimony saying that my Biological father warned my dad that if he tried to adopt me, he would put up a fight. Which is what really happened. If I can prove that, underCalifornia Probate law, that would win me the home. I have to give the lawyer 5,000.00 as a deposit. Has anyone been thru this? Any advice? Is it worth it or is it a hassle? I dont wany troble or more heartache

In California, when a case is listed in the Court of Appeal or Supreme Court, sometimes it lists the Superior Court as a party. Does this mean the Superior Court is party to the case, or just that it was the court that handed down the original decision? I am assuming the other party listed is the one that is appealing, but I don't understand why the case should be filed against the Superior Court rather than against the original opposing party. You never see US Supreme Court cases saying Smith v. U.S. District Court. Someone please explain how this works. Thanks in advance.
