I am disappointed to hear what is being told to young people in certain music genres. They are taught disobeying the law is cool and hip. What's going on?

They'll have to learn common sense from their parents and their upbringing, and no... freedom of speech should not have a limit, that is stripping us from our individuality

You see the funny thing about free speech is that the only clear line is free speech. Think of the limit being you are allowed to say anything in any media. This is a point that can be defended.

Now we do not want to live with this because bad people may hurt children by using them in a business that appeals to prurient interests. Here is the problem with getting away from the line. You can never know after you leave the safety of the rule how far you are gone.

It is not a stretch to justify a law prohibiting criticism of government. How may countries have such laws? Many do. Disturbing public tranquility is a law in China.

Before the partisan divide in the USA it was OK to criticize the government without social repercussions, but now raise your voice about something and it is automatically spun and you are put in one of the camps, figuratively. Now that the public is become accustomed to this when you are put into a real camp it will not be such a big change, everyone should have seen it coming. No one ever expects the Spanish inquisition, to take a line from an old movie.

Actually, freedom of speech is limited in certain areas. Such as it is illegal to yell fire at a movie.
Those who want to preach disobedience do have a right to do so, but they should also be held liable for it. We went through a spate of that in the 1960's, and it was over looked then. The issue has grown from then to what it is now, so the parents just need to get more involved in the lives of their kids. Part of the problem for the kids is little or no guidance by their parents. We can not expect our young to know what is right unless they are taught. In some respects, what they see and listen to is what is teaching them. Kids might want "things", and I know that I did when I was young. However, that said, I didn't turn out to be a bad person for the lack of things I wanted. Neither will our kids if the standard of living goes down a bit, and the kids have what they really need, their parents at home.

the two a type of come from the 1st modification. the considerable area is the beginning up, "Congress shall make no rules..." Your freedoms are shielded from government, no longer different human beings. And in case you artwork for a business enterprise, you have fewer rights and that they might terminate or superb you for something you're saying. on the comparable time, no person is permitted to declare something untrue that damages a guy or woman's skill to make a residing. for this reason, a tabloid newspaper is hurting Jolie's earning skill via making human beings have self belief something untrue. in the event that they print something real, they are untouchable although, inspite of what you're able to have self belief. The reverend is secure because of the fact he's interior his rights and not violating others rights. he remains a ***** and others could stand up to him, yet he's not breaking rules. information media won't be able to record on falsehoods with out the opportunity of being sued, yet there is assorted gray section too, and that's probable what's confusing you.

Most people should have enough education to think independantly about things they hear and see on TV (isn't that what school is for???), in the news, online, and to know the difference between fiction, oppinion, and fact. Unfortunately, parents today are either massively overprotective and hide the world from their kids, or they aren't doing their job in drawing the line on certain topics. Of corse youth are highly impressionable to start with. Kids live in a competetive world, so most of what they learn they take for face value. Sometimes applying that knowledge has disasterous results.

It is the individual's own responsibility to interperate the world as he/she sees it unless they do not posess the skills of reason and judgement to make the correct interperatation (in which case parents need to step up and know when to censor the media and when to allow their kids to grow).

If we aren't free to self expression, we cannot make mistakes and therefore see the results of our mistakes or learn from them. Plus, Restricted minds are easily convinced of general principals as being truths. Minds become weak and easily manipulated through things like propaganda. I don't mean to preach, but this is definately a left wing topic, I feel pasionately about.

If they'd been taught by their parents that popular music is *not* instruction for life, they'd be far better able to cope. Music has always had its rebellious side; that's one of it's draws and--at times--one of its healthier aspects. If young people believe breaking the law is "cool and hip" because of the music they listen to, they've got bigger problems than the music they listen to.

Luckily, despite the music I listened to, I neither "shot the sheriff," "shot the deputy," "took the money and ran," *nor* "just killed a man... (pulled my trigger, now he's dead)." Nor has anyone I know.

It's not only schools. They talk about killing cops and others. It is completely disrespectful, and I believe that it has a lot to do with kid's attitudes. I also think there should be a limit of "freedom of the press". They need to be reigned in. Expecially the ones that chase celebs to get a shot of someone supposedly "Cheating" on their spouce.

i agree with the music industry being controlled with what they are saying. but, i think kids should be taught to obey the law by parents. it all depends on how they are raised. i don't think freedom of speech should be controlled in any way. this is the united states of America, why do people want to suppress us?

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid...

Disobeying the law has always been looked at as cool. This is nothing new.

I agree with you 100%

However, it would not be freedom of speech if we were restricted to a certain verbal limit.
