The other day, one of my employees called out sick. When they came back in, I asked for a more specific reason and/or a doctor's note. They refused saying that because of HIPAA they didn't have to answer my questions; Their privacy is protected.

Is this right? Have their been any firm legal rulings to this effect?

When i was 3 years old my mum died in front of me.I was left with my dad who after so many years re-married.My step mum was evil and nasty, she never really liked me at all. When my dad died, when i was 11,it got even worse. Now i know that when my dad died all that he owned went to my step mum,as he never made a will when he died.My step mum got everything and has only ever give me about 7-8 photos of my dad,and now has nothing more to do with me.I feel cheated because ive been left with nothing and her and her 2 boys(not from my dad)have got everything he ever had,and all i got was photos.Would it be worth taking her to court over it,or should i just leave it,?.It has been 17 years since my dad died, and im scared if i take her to court she will win and i'll feel even worse then i do now.....some advice please?

Someone mailed me a letter to a previous address because he wanted me to call him and another person who lives at my previous address opened it, read it and called the phone number that was in the letter. The only way I even found out about it was that the person who mailed to letter found another way to contact me, called me and told me what happened. I still don't have the original letter. I feel violated. What should I do?

I mean, I understand the basic arguments about coercion and the demise of "marriage" but why is it so horrible if all involved are consenting adults?

The Washington State Supreme Court upheld the 1998 Defense of Marriage Act recently (limits marriage to between a man and a woman). Their defense was that marriage was sacred between a man and a woman and for the purpose of procreation.

So the Washington Defense of Marriage Alliance (supported by gay and lesbian groups) came up with I-957. The initiative, if passed, would require all married people to have a kid within 3 years of marriage, or else the marriage would be annulled. They freely admit that this is ridiculous.

But they argue that for the same reason heterosexuals shouldn't be forced to procreate, homosexuals shouldn't be excluded from marriage.

Here are my questions:
Do you think they have a valid argument about marriage rights?
Do you think that the Wash. St. Supreme Court made an error in their justification for upholding the Defense of Marriage Act?
Also, what are your thoughts on this case?

In the early 60's my father did some work for U of MD in Pakistan in a back providence that was just reseach on some deseases. While there he helped out an old man on the street who turned out to be a good friend of the local Prince. The Prince invited my Dad up to his home Inot quit a polace) and gave him and his other scientist dinner to express his thanks. The Prince decided he really liked my Dad and gave him a little statue that my Dad thought had been made by a local craftsman. Years later he had an arceologist friend tell him it was a small head of Julius Ceasur and looked to be about 2000 yrs old. I know you are not supposed to take such things out of other countries but will this be the same thing were the ruler of the area gave it to him as a gift? Not taking it would have been a very bad thing as this Prince had a reputation for being very fickil.

The home office is abit slow sometimes, the reason is refugees come here in the uk to get away from terror and torture from their own country, and yet when they get the right to remain in uk, they get their passports stamped and the next minute you find them going back to their country visiting family.
So don't you think that the home office should maybe give them rights to stay in the uk if they are genuine, but they shouldn't be allowed to go back to their country, then you would soon see if alot of people from different countries would want to go through with being a refugee, if they new they weren't allowed back home.

How cop on 25G cheated death
Beaten officer saved by other rookies
tells of his agonizing, bloody ordeal

BY ERNIE NASPRETTO
DAILY NEWS POLICE BUREAU

Officer Joseph Cho was bludgeoned with bat.
Sprawled across the back seat of a speeding police car, rookie cop Joseph Cho awoke covered in blood, numb and unable to move as two officers in the front seat spoke frantically about his grave condition.
"I think he's shot." "There's blood all over the place."
Officer Cho had no idea that he had been bludgeoned by a bat-wielding assailant on a dark street in Queens.
He didn't know how the cops racing him to the hospital had found him.
And he had no way to know that he would become the symbolic face of the bravery demonstrated each day by the NYPD's rookie cops - who earn just $25,100 a year while in the academy and $32,700 a year afterward while patrolling the city's most-dangerous neighborhood

My brother did something foolish a few days ago. He is over 18, he
served overseas and is a recent vet. With all the money he saved he bought a car he paid
the taxes on it then he went to live with our mom in hopes to find a better job with no success
he comes back and continues to drive his car. He has no current insurance he was
driving on a permit with no one else in the car which by law he has to have someone older
then 21 with a valid license.I asked him where he was going he said he was going to get a
drivers book to study again for the test I believe him he said he needed one days before
the wreck. When he got into the car wreck with another person he made
sure they were ok. Then he left the
scene of the accident. The cop came to his house and
gave him 3 tickets 1 for driving with out a license the 2nd for failing to provide proof of insurance the 3rd for leaving the scene of the accident
it is unclear how it happened but the person is saying that my

On my last question, you said

"GWB singed into law that a person cannot be prosecuted when defending home and family. In other words, if an assailant enters a home and the family is threatened with bodily harm, they are allowed to 'shoot' and NOT suffer prosecution in a court of law...say from the assailant's family who wants to sue for bodily injury to him/her"

Is this true? Can you find out what law this is?

I have always said that it was stupid, that if someone broke into your home, and you shot him, you could get sued for bodily injury.

PLEASE tell me this is true, and where I can find out what law this is! GOD BLESS GEORGE W BUSH!

Does ANYONE know if this is an actual law?

OK, so many people have been telling me that the second amendment was made so that we could overthrow a bad government, not so that I can keep a pistol by my side in a bad neighborhood.

So, I have heard that it should not be a right to own guns, but to be able to get them in case a state militia needs to be formed.

Could someone explain this. If we don't have the right to won guns, then obviously no one would be making them, right? So how would we get them if we needed to organize a militia?

The United States government is telling me that I can be a murderer, a pedophile, a rapist, commit armed robbery or any other type of violent criminal act, and can still go to college. Personally, I think it's an underlying conspiracy against African Americans because it's well documented what race is being prosecuted and convicted of selling drugs at an alarming rate. I'm sure mainstream American won;t agree with this, but that is to be expected. Check out this link to see another controversial law that Washington state is trying to implement.

I want peace, love and harmony and I'm a tree hugger who wants to fight global warming, doesn't eat beef, and advocates ethical treatment of animals. I respect all ethnicities and religions and believe we should focus on cultures'/religions' similarities- not our differences.

However- I'm also against tolerance of violent crime (much tougher on crime without resorting to death penalty which I don't think is the answer), out-of-wedlock sex, abortion, and for freedom of religion. I worry about decay of the family and think that stronger nuclear families need to be reinforced.

I think libs don't have a sense of right and wrong, but cons are hypocrites and their actions speak the opposite of their words. In other words, one party sucks, the other blows.
