On my last question, you said

"GWB singed into law that a person cannot be prosecuted when defending home and family. In other words, if an assailant enters a home and the family is threatened with bodily harm, they are allowed to 'shoot' and NOT suffer prosecution in a court of law...say from the assailant's family who wants to sue for bodily injury to him/her"

Is this true? Can you find out what law this is?

I have always said that it was stupid, that if someone broke into your home, and you shot him, you could get sued for bodily injury.

PLEASE tell me this is true, and where I can find out what law this is! GOD BLESS GEORGE W BUSH!

Does ANYONE know if this is an actual law?

I am not worried about self defense. If someone is in my house, I want to shoot to kill, regardless of whether or not they are armed.

What you are referring to is the "Castle Doctrine".

In some states, you are legally allowed to shoot someone if they set foot in your house, no matter if they threaten you or not.

Google "castle docrtine". Hope this helps. Cheers.

I don't know the law but it would seem you would only be allowed to use reasonable force to gain control of the situation. For example if you have the assailant trapped on the floor, or wounded, you don't get to put a bullet in his head. That would seem reasonable.Sometimes the laws are crazy and sometimes you read of the criminal sue the homeowner because he was injured while he was committing a crime.

It is true that if someone breaks into your house and threatens your life, you are allowed to kill them without fear of prosecution. It's called self-defense, and Bush did NOT sign it into law. It's been that way for much, much longer than Bush has even been alive.

i will help you with your homework but i will not do it for you. the prosecution cannot prove beyond a reasonable doubt to convict .. ergo you will not be prosecuted....on the other hand the plaintiffs attorney believes he can meet his burden by a preponderance of the evidence and a jury will award a substantial amount of money...ergo you will be sued.....if you do not understand what I have said post what MISSPIPIK said and someone will spell it out for you...

it really depends on the state and even when it is allowed, there are still so many holes........just make damn sure the assailant is inside your home before you shoot him.......do not shoot him if he is not inside..........
