My brother did something foolish a few days ago. He is over 18, he
served overseas and is a recent vet. With all the money he saved he bought a car he paid
the taxes on it then he went to live with our mom in hopes to find a better job with no success
he comes back and continues to drive his car. He has no current insurance he was
driving on a permit with no one else in the car which by law he has to have someone older
then 21 with a valid license.I asked him where he was going he said he was going to get a
drivers book to study again for the test I believe him he said he needed one days before
the wreck. When he got into the car wreck with another person he made
sure they were ok. Then he left the
scene of the accident. The cop came to his house and
gave him 3 tickets 1 for driving with out a license the 2nd for failing to provide proof of insurance the 3rd for leaving the scene of the accident
it is unclear how it happened but the person is saying that my

brother over turned while
making a right turn then his car struck the front left side of the other person's
car. I saw the damage done to both cars my brothers whole car front end is smashed untill you get to the hood.
The other car has a paper plate size dent in it and a few scatches nothing you can't pop
out and paint over. On top of that i am not completely sure that maby the other driver
did not cross into the lane my brother's lane and stike
my brothers car it has been raining non stop and the roads have not been dry for the last
few days. even during the accident . I am not asking you to be Johny Cockren but I am asking you to provide a
great defence in favor of my brother. And his stupid choices all of these ticket's were
at one time and he had a spotless record before this they were all ruled by the cop that
gave them as misdemeanors. The cop also said they could sue my brother because he did not have current insurance.
Please give good info in favor of my

When younger and foolish and living on minimun wage salary my hubby and i couldnt afford insurance and often went without..as for the no insurance ticket i know from my previous experience that when i got a ticket for no ins. (but no accident involved --just a ticket--) that the next day i usually went and started a policy (whether i was going to be able to pay the installments or not usually paid the hundred bux to start) so that when i went to court i could bring the proof and blame it on a memory thing that i forgot to renew my policy and day after ticket went and renewed...that always seemed to work for me--usually ended up with court supervision and still have a clean driving record to this day! Since his no ins ticket has to do with an accident also i would say that he should contact the person he hit and ask for the standard three estimates and offer to pay it out of his own pocket (offer payments or perhaps speak with the garage with the lowest estimate to see if they would possibly be sympathetic and take payments..) I say contact them so they know that even though he doesnt have insurance that he is willing to take care of the damage and not leave them out high and dry..also so they dont start the proceeding to sue see if you can reach an agreement....... as for the ticket how exactly is a non licensed driver supposed to get insurance? ...could he have even had insurance on the car if he didnt yet have a license and only a permit (id ask an insurance agent about that)...i understand that it seems he doesnt have a job right now but he has to get one to take care of all this he will MOST LIKELY HAVE FINES TO PAY...and as for the possiblitly of the other driver being possibly at fault also well since he left the scene and no police or other witness was at the scene to provide that kind of information i dont think it would be worth tryin to go after them as part of the problem bc you would then probably need a lawyer to argue on your brothers behalf and with him not currently having a job thats alot more money added to what this will potentialy be costing him unless the other party was willing to assume responsiblity and say that they too made an error but in this day and age i dont think most people are that honest... As for leaving the scene and driving without a license, since he has no previous driving offenses, i would speak with the judge that day in court to explain that after the accident he didnt think to stay after he made sure they were ok...he was flustered and nervous and not to use this as an excuse but he is a recent vet and honestly couldn't his reactions- like being nervous and flustered- affect him differently than us regular civilians?? He was recently in a very different environment and he may need some time to have his reactions turn back to normal (possible PTS post traumatic stress?)...and since hes not a current licensed driver hes not very familiar with accidents or how to deal with them -he was on his way to get the book after all....and i didnt know myself that you have to have a person driving with you over 21 on a permit if your over 18...i thought you only had to have a licensed driver over 21 with you if you were UNDER 18..being that he was over 18 that wouldnt have occured to me either..he's got himself into quite a pickle but if the other party involved has half a heart then after speaking to him or you even on his behalf maybe theyd be willing to work something out to avoid him being sued...as for the rest all i can say is plead with the judge and explain your brothers situation...hopefully your brothers pleas will fall on a sympathetic ear..I personally have a HUGE soft SPOT and feeling of gratitude and Thankfulness towards anyone who will put theyre lives on the line to protect my family and our freedom!!!!!!! Hope i may have helped a bit ...(should he end up needing a lawyer there are many who do special "pro-bono" (free) cases under certain circumstances and there may be one in you area willing to help him...if not there are also legal aide offices that should be willing to help especially since your brother is a recent vet and served..just search for "legal aide" in your area...I worked for a legal aide office for 1 yr as secretary--it was called prairie state legal services...dont know what its called where u live!)

Best of luck to your brother and his situation...really wishing it all works out in the end for him!!

Sorry, your brother has no defense. He was committing several WRONGS while driving and deserves to have his license taken away for a very long time. Plus, he CAN be sued by the people since he doesn't have insurance. What kind of moron drives around without insurance?
