I made the mistake of signing up for a "TRIAL" on stamps. com. Because of work hours I was unable to cancel before my free trial was up.

I finally reached them, and they told me I owed $15.99. OK. I hadn't reached them in a timely way even though I never even installed the software ... don't even ask me why I signed up for the trial. You can guess that one.

In any event, I finally reached a live person and we argued for a few minutes bout the $15.99. NOW they are saying I owe $47.something because they have no record of that phone call and it went into another month, plus a whole day before they accepted an email cancellation (which charges for yet another whole month).

I need to prove I made that phone call before the extra 2 months were charged, but I have a prepaid cell phone plan from US cellular and they won't release the record of the numbers that you called unless you have a court-ordered subpoena.

Can I get this without going through some serious legal action?

Whenever we see or hear of people wielding guns and killing innocent victims, there is an outrage. Is there a need to improve and make the individuals who threaten and kill other people with guns, more responsible?

From a school in Colombine to a subway in New York City to a shopping mall in Utah, innocent people have been killed by angry and disillusionioned individuals. Would outylawing guns serve any purpose and make the streets/schools safer?

Your thoughts on gun control and those who shoot innocent people...

I've been going to my doctors in the UK for 10 years with the same complaint and nothing was done, just fobbed off with painkillers etc. I have recently moved to another country and obviously the problem still exists and I had to go to the hospital. There, they ran tests and I had scans and it turns out that I need to have surgery. I feel so angry that the doctors in the UK didn't offer me any tests/scans and I've suffered for so long. Is there anything I can do, bearing in mind I'm not in the UK to see peoplelike the CAB etc.

It is a proven fact in Canada that only 55 % of eligible voters in the population gets out to vote at the best of times. Then only about 50% of the votes cast are for the winning party with the other 50 % being divided between the other 3 or 4 political parties. Who end up losing and therefore do not get any representation in parliament at all. Once in office the leader of the winning party called the Prime Minister is picked before the election by his political party who have a convention and select him or her from about 5 or 6 others. Only about 1000 people as part of the party can attend the convention and they do not all end up in favour of who eventually wins out as they had their own man or woman as their favourite. Now is it any reason that democracy is in question here? What can you suggest to change this so democracy is more of the heroine that we portray her to be to other countries throughout the world?

I mean possession without intent to sell (hypothetically; obviously this is tough to prove in real life). This is also assuming a person harms no-one by exposing them to the smoke or driving and operating machinery while intoxicated. Selling could definitely be considered harming someone else but how could using it yourself be unconstitutional then if you harm on-one but yourself? The cost incurred when NHS has to pay for your lung cancer treatment or psychosis? (these conditions are definitely cannabis induced in many cases

I'd like you to mention your country, if possible.
Your answer can help us try to modify the laws in Brazil to minimize the violence from teenagers.
Thanks

Namely in Quebec, the french speaking province of Canada, they have enacted a law saying that every sign posted has to be in French. How is that for democracy? An english store, restauarant or place of business must have a French sign.

I believe she didnt exactly consent but didnt say no either to the first man. So is that rape? I dont think so

The second man IF he came back i believe could have raped her, because she probably felt used by the fact that it was two men.

I went to McDonald's last night and they asked me to show ID on a debit/PIN purchase. I asked why, and she told me that they are required by their management to ask for it on purchases over 15.00 when using a debit and credit to prevent fraud. I told her that they reason you have a PIN number is for your own security, but she didn't care! I then handed her only my ID and she wrote down my drivers license number, exp date, and birthday. Then she had me sign the bottom of the receipt which I just wrote George Washington! She never even asked to see my debit card to see if the name matched the ID or even checked signatures! So yeah they are really stopping Fraud! But that goes back to my original questions are you still required to show your ID on a debit/pin purchase? Thanks!

If I record a classroom lecture, and decide to sell it or make profit off it somehow, would this be illegal and could the teacher sue me? Even if I record the lecture in general and distribute it. Bottom line - are lectures intellectual property?

Or is the real question, who is getting the payments?

2007-02-15 09:51:05 · 11 answers · asked by Mario Savio 6

One of my roommates is in charge of our utilities. He hasn't paid our water or electric bill in the past three months, but has gotten checks from all the roommates. I am concerned that he is pocketing my money. I seem to be the only one in my house who is willing to confront anyone when there is a problem, so I'm sure I will be going to him alone if I decide to ask him about it. What should/can I do about him cashing checks but not paying bills? I mean it is his responsibility to pay them since they are in his name, so I am not responsible if they don't get paid. But ideally I'd like to have water and electricity! Help!
