get a paternity test - htey check your DNA against the childs and they'll tell you if you're the father or not and if you lucky enough to not be the father (as it sounds like you don't want to be) then this should get you off the hook and should allow you to keep your tax refund. Without the proof that the kid isn't yours it's going to be one hell of an up-hill battle. The government is quick to abscond with your money but not so willing to give it back if you know what I mean.

Well allegedly somewhere in the process the courts have deemed you the father, and as such you have been reported to the IRS as being delinquent in your support payments by most likely your states Child Support Enforcement Division.
If you are not the father than you need to get an attorney and get into court to get this matter resolved. At this point even if you are not the father you are being legally held responsible. If you continue to fail to pay your child support then they are going to throw you in prison.
Your legal obligation is going to continue until such point in time the Courts and not you have deemed you are not the father of the child.
So expect them to take all of your tax returns, suspend your license, garnish your wages (if and when you get a job), and then throw you in jail as a last resort. But even while you are in prison your child support obligations are going to continue to add up. When you get out of prison they will put you on a repayment schedule which is going to be much higher than what the payment is now.
Don't ignore the issue and longer or you are going to be playing maytag man in the prison yard.

Let's simplify...
A court said you owe support, and you have not been paying for some reason, so they are claiming your tax return.
If the court said you owe it and you are behind, then YES, they can take your refund- and still demand more from you.
The 'hick town' and potential other father are separate issues that don't mean a lot at this stage.
Now- the smart thing to do is to go back to court and get things cleared up. If you don't owe support for whatever reason, get that fixed. If two people are supporting the same child, get that fixed.
As far as I know, there is NOTHING you can do to make things better for yourself outside of going to court about it.

Have a dna test done to prove whether you are her father or not. If you are, then you owe back child support even though she is now legally an adult. If the mother was on gov't assistance you will be paying back the county for a long time. Sorry if this isn't what you wanted to hear. You're best bet would be to look into family law in your state. I am surprised that they haven't started garnishing your wages. GOOD LUCK!!!

What aspect do you want? they are taking his refunds because he refuses to pay what he's legally obligated to pay to enhance the children he created. No, the garnishment isn't a cost - it is utilized to what he owes from the previous. So if he thinks that her getting his $three hundred stimulus rebate covers his would or June price, he's faulty. It is going hostile to the $30000 he owes and he nonetheless also his month-to-month price. i'm hoping he receives stuck up. How he stands as a lot because the outcome of his moves is the most ideal degree of what type of a guy someone is.

My friend's son was paying child support because this girl said that her son was the baby's father.Well,my friend demanded a paternity test which he got and it turned out he wasn't even the father.I suggest you get a paternity test done ASAP.But if you are the father, pay the child support on time. That way they won't take your income tax refund from you.As long as you owe arrears, they will take it.Good Luck.

I doubt the hick town has much to do with it, but did you sign the birth certificate? If so, and you didn't later challenge that with a paternity test, then guess what, "DAD".
You have to prove its not yours. If it is yours, then you are screwed, because the law allows them to take your tax returns for as long as they need. It also allows them to take your Drivers License, so consider yourself lucky.

You have to get a DNA test to prove your NOT the father. If they are taking your return she is on welfare. And is claiming your not paying. She listed you as father. They would require you to get tested Unless you admitted it was yours.
If the child is yours, You have NO right to the return if you are not current with your support payments. If you pay your support they will not touch your return. Be lucky they have not arrested you.

Be a man, deal with your mistakes. If you truly think you aren't the father, then have a paternity test. If you don't do that, then you need to be a man and help take care of your child. It the child's fault you and your ex were too stupid to use protection. Don't make him/her suffer.

First make clear to us if you know this child or the mother.
If you are not the father, then is a name or S.S. mistake; or just another case or gubernamental stupidity.
Just prove they are wrong and you'll get your money, but it might take some time.
