Even if you were you could not sue the doctors. My daughter tried to get solicitors to take on her case and mostly it was just a definate NO. Others wanted £3000 just to look into it and decide if they wanted to take it. They injected ecoli into her spine for goodness sake and she had to have a much larger and dangerous operation because of it. Was it the technician, was it the needle, was it the firm who supplied the drug to many what ifs. It has to be a maiming or a death before you can get a doctor/hospital sued and even then they can push it all round the houses blaming different circumstances and keep you in court so long that you can't afford to carry on fighting.

It's a waste of time and money, they'll argue that your condition was not detectable until now due to the nature of your illness or because of medical technology improvements. And may be they are telling the true.
Second this is why you should always seek for a second opinion(Doctors are Humans not gods); even now is better to seek for a second opinion to see if there are other alternatives besides surgery (some U.S. doctors love surgery because it's more lucrative).
Just thanks God for the chance to do something before is too late, and move on.

Look into it, even if you're not resident here right now, you can still call a free law session held by most solicitors. If not, write to CAB or the medical boards here. Do some internet searches. You have every right to be angry. Ring some helplines, there's loads, do searches on the net.
Good luck, hope you sort it. Your health is not something to mess or have others mess with.

You need to make a complaint to the Local Medical Committee who cover your former GP's practise. Check out the site below or search Yahoo under Complaints & GP

You would first need to prove that your condition existed prior to your move outside of the UK...not easy I would have thought....you then have to prove negligence on the part of the UK doctor...but did you give him all the facts....or can you prove that you gave him all the facts? Not easy I would have thougth.
I would forget it and get on with your new life...good luck .

Please please please do something about it.
After 9 years of taking pain killers for my back i told my doctor, no more pain killers i want to know what is wrong with my back once and for all.
He sent me to the hospital for an xray and it showed up what was wrong with me, the thing is my doctor could have done this years ago and saved me from 9 years of side affects from the medication he prescribed to me.
Also they left glass inside my hand when i came in to A&E to get it stiched up after i had fallen on broken glass, THEY SOWED MY HAND UP WITHOUT CHECKING THAT THERE WAS NO GLASS LEFT IN IT, i had to have an operation after that!!!
I didn't do anything about it, what a full i have been and latley they made a f'ck up with my 75 year mother, who, and you will agree dosen't need any f'ck ups at her age, they nearly killed her and my mum won't do anything about it.
So you have my blessing and support, do them b@astard and get them back for all their wrong doings...
Best wishes and all!!!!!

You can sue for anything dear. I wouldn't suggest doing it because you'd be made fun of like the hot coffee lady. Don't sue doctors out of general courtesy because we need doctors and if it becomes to risky for doctors to run their practice then they won't run it and then nobody wins out.

No offense but why DIDN'T you get a second opinion? And sueing doesn't do any good in my opinion, it's just the american solution to everything.
