They both end life.

Gmoney, I actually am not trying to be witty, I have just had conversations with people who say that capitol punishment is "bad" and abortion is "fine"
I just wonder what motivates this thought pattern.

That's really fine reasoning, kill the innocent as you spare the lives of the horridly guilty at all costs|
Abortion is the taking of an innocent persons life while he or she is still in the womb| It is murder period| And murder should never be legalized|
Certain heneous crimes merit the death penalty - rape is one|
But first degree murder - as long as it was an isolated incident and involved only one person - should carry a long jail term|
Some crimes are so terrible and heneous, that the death penalty is the only just punishment|
However, the death penalty should not be applied lightly - only in extreme cases|

Because some people believe that the state of the fetus while abortion is still an option is too undeveloped to be called fully living. Whereas capitol Punishment is the ending of the life of a full grown human being.

capital punishment is the death of a criminal , a murderer , someone who has infringed on the life and family of another; someone who has violated the time on earth of another; abortion to me is not warranted b/c you are taking the life of another for your own personal choice and convenience ; someone who could be another Einstein; easy to abort a faceless innocent ; to me ; two different spectrums; an innocent v. a murderer ; no comparison
There is prevention out there; how many mistakes do people have to make?? Take the time and use prevention

It's a question of power of the government over an individual vs power of an individual over themselves.
Should the government be able to take away someone's life? No, says those opposed to capital punishment.
Should the government be able to tell a woman she can't remove a parasite from her body? No, says those who are pro-choice.
The common theme here is that people don't want to give up sovereignty over their bodies to the government.

Capitol punishment is murder by the state.
Abortion is a personal choice made by a woman concerning her body.

One is a moral issue, best handled by those involved. The other is a death strictly for the sake of revenge. Which is right and which is wrong or both right or both wrong is strictly in the eyes of the beholder.

I think you're trying to be witty here, but the truth of the matter is that most people who oppose the death penalty also oppose abortion.

I actually think that abortion is okay.
For one, it lowers crime rate because the unwanted children that are born don't end up feeling unwanted.
Capitol Punishment makes the person regret the crime when they are lying strapped to the table thinking about what is going to happen to them. I think that if some people are so low down to kill anyone but themselves they deserve to die.
They are both acceptable.

the same reason pro-lifers are for the death penalty and against abortion. logically you should be for both or against both but this is more of a political issue than philosophical.
