I know a seventeen year old girl that has a baby that was born in August. The girl has lived with her mother for the past year and a half. The girl goes to school during the day and works at night and on the weekends while her mother watches the baby for her. The father of the 17 yr old leagaly has custody of her. My question is, can the father of the 17 year old girl (that is working and lives with her mother and her mother's husband) claim her on his taxes? The last time I checked, you had to have a child living in your home for at least 6 months to claim them. Also, if he was not supposed to do so, is there any action that can be taken against him? If she were to get a refund, she could really use this money for her baby. His reasoning for claiming her is to not have so much owed in.

My brother committed suicide 2 months ago. We lived 3 hours apart. He was married and his wife never read the letter he left behind. My parents and I would really like to see his last words, his last thoughts, even though we know we are not mentioned in it. I tried filing a FOIA request through the police department where he lived, and it was denied. They said his wife needed to get the copy. We don't want to ask her to get it. They said I could appeal their decision and write to the mayor. Does any one have any suggestions? Is it even possible at this point? Thank you so much for your help. We really appreciate any help we can get.

I am a cashier at a clothing retail store, and within the past few days one of the registers was short about $50 dollars. Instead of approaching all the cashiers who worked that day and asking us if we knew what happened, ect. the store manager posted ALL of our names along with the amount missing on the store bulletin board that all the employees who work there can see.

My question is, is it ethical to do that? It is quite embarassing, especially considering it could've been any number of reasons that it was short, not particulary that someone just took it. It's one thing for the manager to write it in her personal notes to keep in mind if it happened again, but quite another to post it for the ENTIRE store to see and humiliate us.

Besides contacting HR, what other steps can I take to make sure that this gets taken care of...because I don't want to be made an example of, especially since I know that I didn't do anything to warrant that type of treatment at work.

Please make sure you are up to date with NYC chancellor Regulations.

Please post proof along with your answer if possible.

My mom said ACS told her I have to be 18 to drop out, but everyone else tells me I have to be 16. No matter where I go I keep getting different answers.

Please answer ONLY IF YOU ARE 100% SURE about what the drop out age in NYC is.

My girlfriend is an unemployed 19 year old girl with a 1 year old child who lives with her mother and father.

She wants to put her son in day care so she can get a job and actually buy him stuff with his own money and learn to be more independent but they refuse to let her put him in a daycare since neither her nor her sisters were put in daycare when they were small.

After she had given birth she had 2 anxiety/panic attacks and was put on medication for it which she used only for 4 months and then stopped when she realized it was all just mental.

My girlfriends mother has threatened her several times that she will take her to court and take her son away from her because of the fact that she is a 19 year old girl with no form of income to support the child and has been on medication.

I tell my girlfriend her mom is just bluffing but shes really scared. Is there any truth to what her mom is saying or any place I can get information on this?

it has just been brought to my attention that me and my hausband have less than a month to move from our current residency. although we are not legally married we introduce ourselves as husband and wife. last year he was in a life threatening car accident which left him with alot of nerve damage and is unable to work. he luckily is able to collect social security which isnt that much. at the present moment i am the only one with a stable income and because of our current situation as far as moving is concerned we want to relocate to another state which i am currently looking into for jobs before the move. my question is this is there a way that ss or public assistance would be able to assist us with moving expenses even if we are not legally married? if so how would i go about getting more information on this matter. and would it be easier if we were legally married. thank u to all those who took an interest in my dilemma. and any suggestions will be tried and greatly appreciated.

A 67 year old woman who had to sell her house to raise money for IVF treatment lied about her age (claimed she was 55) to have children. Now she is looking for a younger man as a companion who can help her raise her children. While a person should have the freedom to do as she chooses, my personal take is that she is selfish since she did not think about the children in case of her death. Not to mention the thoughtlessness of fertility clinics. Should late IVF be restricted after 50? Thoughts?

The case in question involved a doctor and his patient. This patient made allegations about the physician and sued for a substantial amount of money. The case went before a judge and was found to be frivolous and thrown out. Meanwhile, for the two years proceeding the court judgement, the doctors malpractice insurance went up more than $20,000 per year. He also spent a substantial amount of money on legal fees and other expenses related to the case. So, should this physician be able to recover expenses related to the case?

I have done what the court has asked me to do, but Social services, the case manager believes I am unfit because I hadn't worked for a paycheck. I do work for cash because I sub-contract, and because I live with a roommate who owns his own home. I live in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Thank you.

My sister & I have barely spoken for quite a while - she has effectively banned me from seeing her 4 children (3 of which I helped to raise) - she (my sister) is also being nasty to my Mum & we fear she may ban her from seeing the children too.

Do we have any rights of access? If so please advise what & how we go about implementing them.

He has had full custody for over a year and a half and his ex wife has decided to go for full custody. He was served the papers on Friday afternoon leaving him not much time to find a lawyer and will be going to the first court appernce by himself and will get a lawyer if court must continue. From experience, can you give me any tips I can pass along to him to help him prepare?

In my states constitution it says this

Sec. 8. Disqualifications for office.
The following persons shall be disqualified for office:
First, any person who shall deny the being of Almighty God.

How was that written in to law if the constitution of America forbids it? I thought states were only allowed to have different laws when not covered by the constitution. I am an atheist and this deeply troubles me.

I worked two jobs and paycheck to paycheck to make ends meet. On my second job I drive a 8 passanger van for a limo company. While on the job the dispatcher sent me to the airport to pickup two different passangers. When the passangers call dispatch then they let them know that i'm in the vacinity and where to meet me. The dispatcher said that one of my passangers was in a wheelchair and she had talked to the airport porter. My first passanger was a lady and she waved at me to let me know. I pulled over close to her and took her luggage, my second passanger I called out his name several times and finally I spotted him with the porter. When I approached him the porter left and I wheeled the man close to the van but and asked him if he could get up. He stood up then looked at me and said he could not lift his legs to go up the two steps into the van.
I certainly could not leave the man on the street and I could not leave my vechicle, so I tried to lift the man.
