Now, I am not talking about the effects of pot. I mean, would you think of a person you once respected as a bad person after you found out they smoke pot? I think people judge people who smoke way to much. It can change who you are, but only if you let it consume you, same with alcohol. If it does make you think less of someone, would you still think less of someone if it was legal?

So many are concerened about the loss of civil rights because of the war on terror (me too) But why has there been no outcry because of other lost rights. ie Having to undergo urinalisis to hold a job, loss of the right to keep and bear arms, police roadblocks that stop motorists with no probable cause ?

It is known that the courts and police favour mothers over fathers.

Even under the situation where the police are called for a domestic disturbance, if the mother tries to leave with the children and the father tries to stop it, the father will be charged... But if the father tries to leave with the children and the mother tries to stop it, the father will be found and then charged.

Damned if you do and Damned if you don't. The father always seems to get the short stick and has to fall an the perverbial sword.

Why is that?

Its not my imagination, but recently there's been a number of decision made by the court of Human Rights in the Hague falling in the favour of criminals...? Take this latest case - a CONVICTED MURDERER is proceeding through the courts for the right to IVF treatment to fertilize his wife. If you Murder, and are convicted of such should you not forfiet your Human Rights as you have denied your victim their basic Human Right to life? Is this simply Popular Politic posturing to favour the appearance of the courts or is it just plain idiocy?

I have heard this from a number of people but would be grateful if somebody could point me in the right direction of finding the legislation as back up so that if I am to take action I have more information to begin with.
The Royal Mail have advised that it is an offence for somebody to open my post without my permission but were unable to tell me what the legislation is.

i went and retained a divorce lawyer 12/14/06. my non-refundable flat fee retainer was $5k. after the meeting, she was to follow up with an email list of the financial items that i need to forward to her. she was to review this prior to my next meeting.

her fee agreement says: ' this means that even if you reconcile and instruct ... not to file ... you do not get a refund of the retainer paid because it is non-refundable.'

how can i get may retainer back as it's almost been a month (today is 1/11/07) and she has not followed up. i can follow up with her, but she would charge me to read my email - an email that i shouldn't even have to send as I AM THE CLIENT! i would much prefer someone with professional courtesy and follow up.

if she can't follow up on my first step, what happens when assets are divided? will she be laxed on that too?

please send advice here! thanks.

I saw a website mentioned somewhere about a week or two back, but never followed it up.
I am not usually the sort of person to grass anyone up.
but, this morning, I was cut up by a driver, who turned out of a side road, onto a main road. he had his indicator going the wrong side, and proceeded to weave in and out of traffic. when I caught up with him at lights, about 3 minutes later, he still had the mobile held to his ear.
I dont usually support the death penalty, but .............

This question is for United Kingdom.

A licence is required for anyone in possession of a Television with a TV or TV recording equipment in the UK. This requirement is enforceable by law; the enforcers go about their job with the same efficiency as the Gestapo did in Nazi Germany. A

I have a court case in China in February and want to ask a Chinese local lawyer to represent me so I don't have to attend. The Chinese courts said I needed to notorize the "power of Attorney" contract and other documents I wish to enter into evidence. They also mentioned something about getting the embassy to stamp them... Could someone please explain how I go about doing this from here in Australia??

Like USA, India too follows the principle of Judicial Review of Parliamentry Acts. Any act which infringes a Basic Right or which purports to change the basic structure of the constitution is void to that extent. The Indian Parliament in the 60s amended its constitution and created a Schedule known as the NINTH SCHEDULE to safeguard any Act being challenged in the Supreme Court. Any act placed in the Ninth Schedule was above Judicial Scrutiny. Today on 11th Jan. 2007 the Supreme Court of India gave a landmark Judgement wherein it said that if the Act which is placed in the said schedule takes away any Basic Right or is not in line with the Constitutional provisions is void and Act put under the said Ninth Schedule is not above Judcial Scrutiny. Cheers!!

today i got into a car accident. my 2007 yaris which i have had for less than a month was side swiped by a delivery truck which in turn made me crash into another car. the impact from the delivery truck made me lose control and slam right into a the steel bar hitch on a lifted truck. the damage to my car is pretty bad. so far i am uninjured with a little pain in my back side. should i seek legal action for this collision. i have never been in an accident before and this is causing me a great deal of distress because the car is probably totaled and i cant make it to work. the accident was the truck drivers fault, he even acknowledged he heard my horn. what should i do?

The other day while in the shopping centre a sign over a store entrance fell on my sons arm. It broke the skin but did not bleed. He said it was not that bad and we went on. Later it looked swollen and very red. It still hurts him 2 days later and my husband cant believe I am not calling a lawyer. The sign that fell was hanging on hooks in the ceiling. The hooks were pulled out. It was seen by a local shop owner and the security guard. He took my sons name and address. Should I pursue it?????????????
