I have been living with someone for 6 years. a lawyer. he convinced me to sell my flat after 2 years. and buy with him. he encouraged me to stop working and place all my money in a new pad but not have my name on the property. i know now thinking foolish.........but i was naive. you know that love thing.lol

I have a money trail to show i have transfered a large amout in the property......does any one know my legal position.....also he has disappeared.......i am still paying for the property, but it goes into his bank account and not a mortgage account.

I dont seem to be able to locate him to even discuss....he has left work, took his passport think he might be back, and left me up s..t creek

any advice .....only sensible replies please.

i am thinking of getting a lawyer but the cost might be too much

Not getting an attorney to assist you is going to cost you much more if you don't seek one soon. You need representation to stake your rightful claim in the property using your papertrail, etc. And to ensure the money you are paying every month goes towards your property not his wallet.

If you don't do something soon not having a lawyer defending you will cost you plenty more in the long run.

Hi there. Go to CAB, they will help you find a solicitor that can help. You have done the right thing in keeping the paper trail, so you will have a claim on the property.

Dont worry about the fact that he is a lawyer. Just get yourself the best advice you can. As a lawyer he will know that you have a right so he will probably just do anything he can to make it difficult.

Keep paying for the property - it shows your integrity - and keep any records of these payments.

Good luck - but get out the house now and go to the local CAB!

He's a lawyer and he's skipped town? If he has his own business his property will be at risk if he has done something foolish with clients' money. That puts you in a precarious situation and you must take control of it now. Today if possible

Assuming you are in the UK, you might want to get yourself to the CAB. The trick is going to be finding a lawyer who is not one of his old buddies.

It doesn't matter how much money you have put into the property, if its in his name, its his. Why are you still paying the mortgage/rent if he has done you over?

I'm sorry to say that he played you for a fool and got what he wanted from you.

Cut your losses and move out and on with your life

firstly are you still living in the house?
either way stop transfering the money to his account because he may not be paying mortage theres no way for you to know, hes disapeared. also go to your local citizens advice centre they can give you free advice and some law firms offer a free 1 hour session and will give you advice on what you can do.
either way you will need a lawer at some point.

Honey, you NEED a lawyer. Remember, you are dealing against a lawyer already. Even up the playing field.

go to citizens advice they normally provide a free consultation with a solicitor but depends where you are living. in the uk you are classed as common law wife if you have been living together for six mnths or more. good luck

go to the citizens advice bureau, they are brill and cheap. if you can prove you have been paying then you have 1/2 rights. sell up and move on. good luck!
