Is there anyone out there who agrees that someone should look into our Welfare, Medi-cal, and Food Stamp programs.
There are so many people abusing these programs and getting away with it. We would be a much richer country if we completely over-hauled these programs, identified the abusers, cut them off, and put their sorry asses to work. As a hard working tax payer I am tired of paying for people to sit at home eating chocolate covered bon-bons while watching Oprah.
Thoughts...

I am sick of this anti-war movement.why are we so ignorant?we had a dictator that harbored/supplied terrorists, killed thousands upon thousands of innocent people, stored WMD's (yes,he did have them at one time),invaded a defenseless country, terrorized his own people, broke the treaty that was supposed to have curtailed him,& yet I hear people say that we never should have gone after him!to me,that makes no sense. Now,everyone wants to pull out before the job we started is finished.Like it or not, America is the only SuperPower left ,and we have an obligation as a compassionate nation, to help those in need whic in turn helps secure OUR protection. What would have happened if we pulled out of Japan/Germany/South Korea before the job was done?We did the same (rebuilding/fight resistance) in those places that we're doing now in Iraq.I don't hear anyone bashing our Grandparents.Just like WWII showed, world affairs affect us no matter how much we want to stay out.Why is this hard to understand??

I was told by my workplace that I am not allowed to write where I work on myspace because of the content of some videos that I have on my page. Somebody might google my workplace and find my videos and associate them with or represent the company (which by the way have nothing at all to do with anything in the company whatsoever). They said I absolutely have to remove it or they will speak to myspace to remove it. What I really want to know is are they allowed to tell me what I can and cant say on myspace? Can they legally make me take the company name off my page? I believe I have a freedom of speech, and I want to know if I have to do what they say, because I dont think I have to. I never once say that I represent the company, just that I work there. I am damn proud I work there and I want to advertise it, because where I work is a great company! I just dont want anyone to trample on my freedoms. Please let me know what you think of all of this.

I recently lost my husband of two days. The Federal govt., SSA says I am a widow and sent me the survior/spouse death benefit. However, NYS says I can not collect widow's benefit because I was not married for the 9 months previous to his death. We had lived together 33 years, but Common Law does not exist in NYS. Do I stand a chance with an appeal to Soc. Sec.
Why does the Federal Govt. not take over rule the state on a federal program.

I’d like to know who else feels the Duke Lacrosse accuser is telling the biggest lie that not even she can keep up with??? To many times now she has changed up her story just for it to show even MORE holes than she had to begin with when she first picked out the 3 schmucks she thought she could get rich off of faster. I would place my life savings on the fact that she wasn’t sure who her baby’s daddy was so in order to make sure she could take care of him/her she thought of a get rich quick plan.

I know most of you are thinking I’m heartless but I can speak from personal experience… when someone has raped you or even tried to do it but did not succeed , you DO NOT forget a single detail of what happened. I was 10 years old and a man tried to rape me and believe me I only wish I could forget some of the details. But I can’t…I never will and instead I use it to make me stronger and more determined to protect my daughter!

Police are pressing charges against a local psychotic/bully who assaulted me and others.. MY testimony is necessary to convict. Trial is not for a year, and while I am able to take care of myself - I am somewhat concerned that I will be focus for psycho's rage.

At the same time however, this individual has been terrorizing the neighbourhood - including several women. My testimony, therefore could be invaluable in establishing a record of violence possibly prevent harm befalling someone down the road.

what would you do?

Ok i got a letter from a lawyer who obtained a judgment against me 6 months ago on behalf of a corporation which i have been paying until i went to hospital and could only afford to send them half of the agreement for that month.

The letter stated that i had to bring the balance up to date by Jan 20.

It said.. "IF you don't pay so and so by Jan 20..we COULD garnish your wage at $200 a month".

But that got me thinking, isn't it up to the judge to decide how much can be garnished and not the actual lawyer?? or am i wrong?

It is kind of confusing so i want some others opinions.

A person works for a major corporation. This person begins to have health problems (not been there long enuff for FMLA). Due to illness' this person misses work, there have been times that it was because they were in the hosp, so vacation, etc were not an option. This person racks up attendance points (8 will get you fired). She gets to a final written warning. She ends up ill again, with note in hand she plans to go into work the following day, but is stopped by a phone call telling her that the major corporation needs to let her go, since she missed a day and was on a final written warning. (State she lives in is an "at will" state). Do you think this is fair? is she being punished for health problems?

I was 11 when my mother passed, my dad remarried & when I was 12, my step-mother adopted me and my siblings w/o our knowledge. They have since divorced and my father has remarried and I am now 40. My father supports me & my siblings who all want to be unadopted so that our mother's name is shown on our b/c. I have been married twice and it hurts that each time I apply for a marriage license, I have to put her name down as my mother and not my actual mother. I have not seen or spoke to her in over 12 years. She is not my mother and I no longer what her associated with me legally either.

I asked this girl to homecoming, but I gave her a note, and I didnt see her at all for her to be able to rspv. I finally saw her after my spanish class going to class at the other building, the last day they were selling tickets. because she traveled from one school to another, she would leave 5 minutes before class,(School rule) so I had planned to talk to her about it during the traveling period, telling the sub i was getting a drink, and play things casually. problem that was the only time i would see her all day. we had a presenter for health, and after presentations, we are required to do a mini essay on the presentation. Well the sub was a long-term sub, and was very lazy, and had the students do the work she didnt feel like doing, so she made us do this essay during the traveling time (5 min) and being a real jerk. I didnt end up getting to go to the dance, and the sub knew about this girl, and didnt approve it. did i have a right to be angry with her?

even if no law is broken, how to raise their children? And do not say they do not, I have seen it happen to many families. I just want to know what law, and why they (or the government) think they are the one's to tell us how to raise our kids.

Like, when less than 5% of the population disagree's with something, should it be banned because it offends them?
Take the 10 commandments in public buildings for example. There was nothing said for hundreds of years but when one or two voiced their opinion that it offended them, and others said the same (but still under 5% of the population), why should they recieve the consideration and not the majority that do accept it there?

Opinions?

Today my landlord recieved a letter from a condo community next to the one I live in. They wrote and told him that the tenet in his house(me) had been arrested for prostitution and that heavy traffic was coming to and from the house for drug purposes.

This is absolutely untrue. I have never been arrested and I have 3 small children in the house so selling drugs out my home is something I would NEVER do. Do you think this is worth a lawsuit or should I just write a letter refuting the accusations and leave it at that? My landlord told me that he was writing them off and didn't believe them. He said they had had problems with them in the past. He thinks race has something to do with it. For the record I am black an live in a very nice "white" community.
