That would depend on the person being fired and company policy. These days, it is nearly impossible to fire anyone. Companies have to have proof that an employee is harming the company in some way (unless it is a layoff). If the person being fired has the potential to do further damage to the company (trash records, delete systems, etc) is it common practice to revoke their access to the buildings and systems before notification of termination.

If the person being fired has an unstable personality and the company feels that the person could be a danger to other employees (going postal for example), then they would revoke access to the building and other staff members.

These are just a few examples to give you an idea. Bottom line, the company has a responsibility to the stock holders and employees to protect them from possible actions of a terminated employee.

To get your paycheck. Most states require the company to pay you the day you are fired. Screwed up, huh?

Maybe they're afraid you'll know the firing is coming and use that last day to royally ef up things around the office?

So they don't have to be face to face w/ you b/c they are cowards,and they think maybe you'll quit b/c you got suspended and they won't have to pay you unemployment!Just another example of how shady some things are!
