I asked this girl to homecoming, but I gave her a note, and I didnt see her at all for her to be able to rspv. I finally saw her after my spanish class going to class at the other building, the last day they were selling tickets. because she traveled from one school to another, she would leave 5 minutes before class,(School rule) so I had planned to talk to her about it during the traveling period, telling the sub i was getting a drink, and play things casually. problem that was the only time i would see her all day. we had a presenter for health, and after presentations, we are required to do a mini essay on the presentation. Well the sub was a long-term sub, and was very lazy, and had the students do the work she didnt feel like doing, so she made us do this essay during the traveling time (5 min) and being a real jerk. I didnt end up getting to go to the dance, and the sub knew about this girl, and didnt approve it. did i have a right to be angry with her?

you have every right to be mad at the substitute because she wasn't doing what she was supposed to.

No. Your duty as a student is to your studies and your teacher first. You have no duty to your girl friend. If you were serious about meeting her and asking her, then you needed to find a way of doing so without interrupting your class work. That doesn't mean that the teacher should have kept you after regular class time to do the work. If the teacher knew you wanted to talk to her during the travel time and intentionally kept you from doing so, then you would have a legitimate gripe but I can't imagine a teacher being that meddlesome.
Lesson learned, plan ahead instead of waiting for the last day.

You always have a right to be angry. How you handle it is another matter.

Why didn't you just call this girl instead of planning to talk to her when you are supposed to be in class (which the sub has a right to keep you in!)? Sounds like poor planning on your part, imo.

You can be mad if you want to, but it doesn't serve any useful purpose. The onus is on you to get to that girl and ask her out. I can't help but wonder if you are more mad at yourself for putting it off and sort of chickening out.

If you really wanted to ask her, you could have phoned her. Look in the phone book, ask her friends, etc.

You let an opportunity slip by. It is your fault, not the sub's. Looking for someone to blame is a waste of energy. Figure out what you want and go after it.

Why is this in Law & Ethics? What deranged notion gave you the idea that this would be the appropriate place for your high school drama banter?
