Check the laws in your community where this space is located. If the vehicle code for your area says that handicapped spaces "must be clearly and legibly marked," the citation won't be valid IF you can prove that the space was not properly marked. Photos would be good in this instance.

If you can't prove that, then you're out of luck. Also be prepared for the judge to disagree with you on whether or not the space was marked. He will have the last word.

So why not just park two or three spaces over? It ain't all that long a walk, now is it?

Yes it would still be valid. You can take your citation to court but you'll lose. The court can always say that "ignorance of the law is no excuse". It's cheaper to just pay the citation. Best of luck to you.

It's obviously not faded enough or you wouldn't have seen it... Either way, don't park there.
