My brother in law had a child out of wedlock and is not able to raise the child (biological mother already relinquished all rights to child). My husband and I are willing to take the child (she's a newborn) and adopt her. How do we gain legal custody of her while the adoption is in process so that we can put her on our insurance and make legal decisions regarding her? Is there a legal form that brother-in-law must sign? We will hire a lawyer for the adoption part...do we need one just to gain legal custody too?

If we leaglaize prostitution it will cut down on the violence and other crimes involved in it.
Also, if it is legalized we can screen them to make sure they don't have any STDs (also it might be good for a man to have proof of this too). If it was legalized the prostitutes could go to the cops if their pimps abuse them.
This is an extream arguement and I wqant you to think about it because it is about as much sence as a lot of arguements I've heard to support legalizing other things.

She claims she recorded the incident on her cell phone yesterday at around 5pm. The problem is she wont let me use it unless I pay her. I already paid her $20 just to see it on her cell phone and she's right she has the evidence. She wont let me take it to the police unless I pay her $100. Is this legal?

This summer, i asked my bf to move in with me into the house i was renting. He was broke, i helped support him for almost month. He finally got a job, and soon thereafter i was layed off from mine. A couple months later, having spent all of my savings, he offered to help me pay rent, and i let him. Long story short, a few months later, we went through a pretty horrible break-up, but he refused to move out. We argued for weeks until i finally agreed to move out (to my great disgust). My landlord transfered my lease over to him and my ex promised to pay me the deposit i put down on the house. But now, my ex says that i owe him money from when we were together and he won't give me my deposit. I really need it so i can find another place to live. p.s. i can't afford a lawyer...

The problem is this... My child's father has wrongfully claimed my child on his taxes two years in a row. So, since his taxes were processed faster than mine, my return was amended. I then received a letter from taxation and finance saying that more than one person claimed my child's number. Him and I never agreed on him ever claiming my child on his taxes and he knows that he was not supposed to. I spoke to someone at taxation and finance, and no one knows if I can sue him for the $5,000 I was supposed to receive. Please help me...

My friends bought a land parcel that has an 1800's cemetery on it. Do they actually OWN it, headstones & all? Seems like the town should own it, not an individual. If it was "abandoned" years ago, does ownership then go to the landowner? They are trying to clean it up because the trees are tipping the headstones over. Any help easing my curiosity is appreciated.

it has been 4 yrs. since I was convicted of an assault charge that the "alleged"victim admitted to not being true. This was done less than 6 mths. after I was convicted. Is there any way now that I could bring this back to court to resolve this legal headache. I have been fighting from day one yet all my admittance has fallen upon deaf ears and I am only tying to get this bad situation off my record.Being that I realize that this will be very expensive, I could also use some actual legal help in assisting me in resolving this matter, and would appreciate any and all assistance

I've had this happen on several occasions and it usually occurs on weekends (teenagers looking for beer or something in our garage refrigerator).

What I'd like to do is lie in wait for some clown to enter my garage on a Friday night. As he exits my garage, I'd like to taser him & teach him a lesson. Is this legal? Could I rough him up a bit then throw him in the street? Would I go do jail? I want this nonsense to stop. And, yes, I close my garage door as often as I can, but sometimes I forget. Nonetheless, I shouldn't have to worry about someone - anyone - trespassing onto my property at any time. How do I know a person's not going to enter my house and do something to my wife/kids? I look at it as I'd be defending myself.

I realize this may sound wierd, but other than installing a video surveillance system, it's all I can think to do. I have to physically catch someone "in the act" I believe - and that's nearly impossible unless I tape it.
