What do people here think of this? Corruption or legitimate concern?

"The producers of An Inconvenient Truth have offered to supply American classrooms with 50,000 copies of the movie free of charge. That offer has been rejected by the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA), the nation's leading science education teachers group, citing a risk to funding from key financial supporters."

Hi I live in Illinois and someone hit my car a while ago and drove off. I got their lic number and then several months later I recieved a notice that they had deposited the money for repairs in a account. When i asked the person to release the money in the account to me they failed to respond. I then tried get them in court but the sherif was unable to locate the apartment to serve the summons. I then had to nominate my wife to serve the summons. When we went to the apartment the person had moved and we could not locate them in time for the court date. Does anyone know if I will ever be able to get the money? Can I try and get the person to court again or is that considerd double jeporady?

If prostitution was legalized and controlled do you think that it would be better for our country? Would it help to lower the spread of STDs if the prostitutes were tested and licensed to work, like in Amsterdam? What are your opinions on this topic?

I was injured several years ago on the job. I was getting partial SSI and workers comp. My son who lives with mother, was getting partial SSI and I paid the difference in child support as per our divorce decree, each year when the amout of SSI went up the total I paid went down, wife immediately remarried, the guy was on Social Security and she went and added my son to his SS and didn't tell me. I have been paying the same difference for years, I just found out when my workers comp case was settled and had to contact SS I asked about my son's benefits I was told I was not a contact for the ss # I gave her,she also had me removed as a contact for his SS benefits. Is it legal to do this? We have shared custody of my child.

I had a judgement against me because I couldn't go to court or I would have lost my job. Even before we went to court I was paying them money. I continued to send them money after the court date even though I received NO paperwork from the judge or the attorney about the judgement. I then go to use my debit card today to get food at the store and its declined when I use the debit. It finally went through using credit. I called the number on the back and found out there was a lein for a garnishment on the account. I would expect a wage garnishment but not something on my checking account. I live alone and need to pay bills and rent with that money. Is there a way to get the lein off. Who would I contact about getting it released. I have a few ideas of what I can do but would like another few options. Please only honest answers. Anything dumb or stupid will be reported for abuse.

I am being harrassed by a telemarketer. I have begged, been nice and been really nasty to get them to stop calling. It is an online pharmacy company that I once ordered from 2 years ago. This is my cell phone they are calling and it does cost me money. I refuse to change my number to stop the harrassment. I don't feel that I should have to do that. Of course, I could not answer my phone but I don't feel I should have to do that either since I pay for my phone service and they have not been invited to call. My question is....Is it illegal for me to get an air horn and blow their eardrums up everytime they call? Nothing else has worked and I am at my wits end.

I saw that my paintings were on a local commercial, evidentally they have been on the air since may of 2005. There is about 10 images some shot very close , some in the background. Does anybody know how different that may be from your average copyright infringement ?
What should I do and how serious is it?

my opinion.. in the not so distant future this practice will be the norm. first in underdevolped countries to include those that are suffering from plagues HIV/AIDS, hunger ect.. population control ( reverse China's 1 child rule/law) and as a means for curtailing the "undesirables" (See Blair's report/ criminals ).

Then this will evolve to include "Humane" euthanasia which includes all that are ill ( levels/procedures/ requirements ect to be worked out) in "developed" countries... finally this will include those that reach a certain age/ or have not benefited "Humanity" by a certain age and to control world population... this will come about.. the moral/religious/ethical ? will all give way to the one truth (????).
So my thoughts and ? is whats your opinion and what is the one truth that will justify global "E".

I'm doing a report on drunk driving which is considered a tort in new jersey. I know misdemeanors and torts go on your criminal record, but do torts? Plus would DUI still be considered a tort if you kill someone?

From what I understand torts are more of private wrongs that allow the individuals to sue for compensation. If you commit a criminal tort, it is not a crime, but then what is it?
