If prostitution was legalized and controlled do you think that it would be better for our country? Would it help to lower the spread of STDs if the prostitutes were tested and licensed to work, like in Amsterdam? What are your opinions on this topic?

Absolutely.

Prostitution--just like drug use--has been around since the beginning of time and no amount of legislation is going to make it go away. History shows that criminalizing a certain individual choice is never a solution--it tends to only push the behavior underground, increase crime, and decrease the safety of those who participate (e.g. Prohibition and abortion pre-Roe v. Wade).

Legalization, coupled with heavy regulation, will reduce the prevalence and spread of STDs, give the rights and protections that come with legitimacy to those who work in the sex industry, and all-but destroy the networks of crime that have sprung up around prostitution.

Slap a sin tax on it, like they do for booze and cigarettes, and use the revenue to fund a licensing program implementing mandatory STD testing for sex workers every six months or so. Why not? Not to mention the huge amount of cash that would be saved/earned from the ensuing drop in crime, hike in property values, etc.

Also, in the long run, legalizing prostitution will greatly lighten the burden on our health care system, as regulating the industy would reduce rates of STDs, especially AIDS. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

There's no arguing with data: regulating prostitution has been shown to reduce crime, levels of HIV infection, divorce rates, and incidence of rape and teenage prostitution.

I think it's great that women are treated like a public urinal.

And considering our skyrocketing Hepetitis C and HIV rates, what a great thing for ANY country.

And even better in America. If a hooker gets an STD, they can claim "unemployment" and sit on their butts on the state system. And a hooker union? Whoooo! They'll have hookers hanging out everywhere.

And above all, NOTHING says safety like a woman going into a hotel room alone with any man who has a little cash. While the pimp can't beat her to a pulp, the "john" sure can.

What a smashing idea!

When prostitution is legalised, a tax will be levied somehow.
Part of these taxes will of course pay the Prime Minister's
salary and others in the public service. If the country has a
President or King, then their pay also come directly from partial
taxes earn from prostitution. Prostitutes' income will contribute
to the GNP.

Prostitution is now neutral gender. Would male prostitutes
be taxed? Or will women be oppressed again where only
female sex workers be taxed?

Prostitution IS felony in factors of Nevada. i'm rather constructive it does not could be provided as a level in the college device, although. maximum human beings in contact with this industry rather lots have the profession found out from the get-pass. playstation : Everett? maximum rules, even right here in the uber-Christian united statesof A., are no longer based on the Bible. you be responsive to, it quite is that finished 'separation of church and state' factor. you would be unable to make some thing felony in basic terms because of the fact it quite is authorized in the Bible (like slavery and murdering your guy or woman infants in the event that they sass you), or unlawful because of the fact it quite is condemned in the Bible (like homosexuality). .

Yes, but must be controlled to ensure health issues are maintained. Sex is an important part of being human and one of the needs of a person (Maslow). If needs are not satisfied, depression and psychological problems can occur. Plus the fact that not everyone gets fulfillment they require. Prostitution can legitimate mechanism to maintain health (mental).

Absolutely. If legalized, it will be regulated. Goodbye pimps. The women will be given proper healthcare and AIDs tests. People who who wish to partake of a woman's services will feel safer. Hell, there could even be a hooker's union, with benefits etc.

I am sort of on the fence with that one. It is not good for women to degrade themselves by selling their bodies to men who really don't appreciate the beauty. Then again, if a fellow wants a good ********, where do you go??

It's a vicitimless crime. Of course the oldest profession should be legal.
