I checked before.
NO state in US makes suicide illegal.
Almost all states makes it illegal to INDUCE or cause suicide. Some states make it illegal to AIDE in suicide(this is hotly debated issue)[1]
Just a few sites:
If you want you can do this for all 50:
Pennsylvania mentions aiding suicide(18-205)[2]
New Jersey mentions aiding suicide( 2C:11-6.)[3]
Connecticut mentions suicide as a part of definition of murder(e.g " person is guilty of murder when, with intent to cause the death of another person, he causes the death of such person or of a third person or causes a suicide by force, duress or deception")[4]
Texas(it was mentioned above) ONLY mentions suicide in 22.08. Which is once again -- you guessed it -- AIDING SUICIDE provision.[5]
etc etc.
Once again: No state makes suicide ITSELF illegal

Suicide isn't unlawful in the US any better - meaning someone who has tried suicide can now no longer be arrested. in the united kingdom this took until eventually 1961, yet in Canada it wasn't until eventually 1972 and in the States it change into through 1991. helping suicide remains unlawful in the States. existence insurance agencies many times received't pay reward to the relations in cases of suicide. despite the indisputable fact that, in the States, if someone publicly tries suicide, he or she will be able to be involuntarily committed to a psychiatric well-being facility.

Wow. I really don't know the answer to this one but I had to answer you because it never seemed to cross my mind that someone would want to fine another for killing themselves, or trying it. I can say, however, now that I think about it, in my 20+ years as a mental health practitioner in Texas, that I have NEVER heard of any individual being fined, in Texas anyway, for attempting suicide, and I had a few clients over the years who tried it, so, maybe that's one more statistic for your paper. God Bless you.

The Connecticut legislature considers easing the penalties for assisting in suicides. The legislation was prompted by the case of Hunt Williams, who is charged with manslaughter after he advised a friend with terminal cancer on how to shoot himself and helped load the gun. John Dankosky of member station WNPR reports. I couldn't find anything on non-assisted suicide. Hope this helps.

Yes its illegal to commite suicide in the Untied States; however, if you do, then the law really doesn't matter. If your unsuccessful, then you can be put into a mental hospital to get the help you need.

I'm thinking it's illegal in lots of states. I would try a search engine or your local police department. It is illegal in Idaho, you can do jail time.

If you try, and don't succeed, they send you to a mental institution, or rehab for a couple of weeks.
If it is against the law, it wouldn't make very much sense, because, if you succeed, they can't punish you, can they.

Yes, it is illegal. I, however, do not have a source to give. So, I guess I'm only 95% sure of my answer.
