Your landlord is suppose to give you a 24 hour notice to enter your home. As long as he can get into the dwelling he should not be upset over a chain on the back door. Look at your lease and see if it states anything about locks, I always change my locks when I move into a new place, when the landlord needs to get in I just make sure someone is there to let him in. There is no reason he needs to be snooping around. And he should of told you about the pervert that lives so close.

I am not a lawyer, but I have been an apt manager.
IF the offender was living in her apt, then she would have to tell you. But its up to you to research the area that you want to live in. Sorry, but that wont hold up as reason to get out of lease.
The landlord can only enter your apt when she has told you or there is reason to believe there is an emergency.
I live in florida so it cant be much different.
If you can get statements notarized from those who saw her entering by prying you door, you have a case,

It is not your landlord's legal responsibliltiy to inform you of a sex offender living next door. You can look that up online.
As to the door, ask your landlord to fix the door.

Oooh, Get Justice. What a FANTASTIC opportunity to sell this person a Pre-Paid Legal Plan so some spiffy overpaid lawyer can "write letters" to the landlord.
That was some fast thinking on your part.
How much do you get paid for this person being a Pre-Paid Legal member?

Sex offenders are all over, even the finest cities have the. You can't get rid of them and you're not allowed to kill them.
Anyway, I'm renting out my old place and I don't believe Ihave any right to be in there without my tenants permission. Technically it is their home even if own it.
