How would you feel if the person that wanted to adopt your baby had a criminal record? It was for drug charges in 97 and they served 6 years (parole ends in 2009). They are clean now and own their business and make good money; have a house, truck..etc.

Censorship controls what people can and can't say. How does this relate to the First Amendment?

where there is no question of inocence and horrific crimes have been commited, surely it would be better and more economical for the country to hang offenders rather than give them free board and lodgings, not to mention free health and dental care etc. etc..

Francis Bellamy wrote in 1892: 'I pledge allegiance to my Flag and (to*) the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.' He considered placing the word, 'equality,' in his Pledge, but knew that the state superintendents of education on his committee were against equality for women and African Americans. [ * 'to' added in October, 1892. ]

It was a way to prevent people from easily breaking some laws enforced in those times, preventing the necessary punishment that would ensue, encouraging them to seek the "formal path" instead.

Many "Berlin Walls" are still standing today, and more are being build. Would you want the walls of a prison to be built of 2 meter tall wire fence? Or are concrete and guards better suited?

And do you think the security enforcement at airports is exaggerated? Would a couple of old policemen intimidate you enough not to bring dangerous objects with you?

If you ran a music store, would you trust your customers enough not to have a magnetic detector installed at the exit?

Berlin Walls are just realistic ways to simplifies things for everyone.

Money
After a long two-week criminal trial in a high profile bank robbery case,
the jury finally ended its 14 hours of deliberations and entered the
courtroom
to deliver its verdict to the judge. The judge turns to the jury
foreman and asks,

"Has the jury reached a verdict in this case?"

"Yes, your honor," the foreman responded.

"Would you please pass it to me,"

The judge declared, as he motioned for the bailiff to retrieve the
verdict slip from the foreman and deliver it to him.

After the judge reads the verdict himself, he delivers the verdict
slip back to his bailiff to be returned to the foreman and instructs
the foreman,

"Please read your verdict to the court."

"We find the defendant NOT GUILTY of all four counts of bank
robbery," stated the foreman.

The family and friends of the defendant jump for joy at the sound of
the "not guilty" verdict and hug each other as they shout expressions
of divine gratitude. The defendant's attorney turns to his client and
asks,

"So, what do you think about that?"

The defendant looks around the courtroom slowly with a bewildered
look on his face and then turns to his defense attorney and says,

"I'm real confused here. Does this mean that I have to return the
money?"

Since I've been on this forum, 2 days, I've had one question altered to make me seem like a bigot, and one answer completely changed, both expressed feelings quite contrary to mine. I always paste from word pad, so I know what I wrote. I don't know how or by whom, I guess I'm hitting some uncomfortable truths if someone can be bothered to do this. I will not be hanging around here, the defamation of my character, and general misinformation is perpetrated by who? any ideas- I wonder if this will reach you untampered with. I will leave with my trust slightly dented as I'm not interested in anodyne chat full time

Here's the back story.... several years ago, an employee of a store accused me shoplifting. I was then humiliated in the middle of the store for almost an hour by the manager and other employees thereafter.

So I sue them. Yesterday they finally deposed the woman who started all this. She gave a great testimony for the defendants who are denying that anything ever happened since there is no police report or incident report, basically a coverup. It was a taped deposition with a videographer and a stenographer and the two lawyers.

Afterwards, I wanted to yell at her "Stop lying you stupid *****! Karma will get you and your kids! I hope your plane crashes (she's moving soon to another state)! You call yourself a religious person and lie through your teeth? You caused all this! You stupid *****!"

If I had said this would it have damaged my case? I mean she gave a great testimony, most of it lies, but she did sound believable and even my lawyer admitted this afterwards.

We have started receiving mail for a friend of mine - he didn't mention anything about it beforehand, and denies he did anything now. However it's a pretty big coincidence that a company would put my address with his name! Is it against the law to use another person's address?

Over 2700 young men, many younger than 20, have had there lives ended in Iraq.
Many more have been severely wounded.
Many more than that have been damaged psychologically so as to ruin their lives.
No plan has ever been put forth.
What is it in this chaos, with little or no planning and hazy goals, that justifies this?
Doesn't their ultimate sacrifice obligate the Bush Administration to have an actual plan for Iraq?
Or is it just another day, another "misfortune" ?

I bought a buggy from mamas and papas in may and 3 days later I returned it coz the front swivel wheel kept sticking. we got a replacement but that one had the same fault plus some other faults. We contacted head office and they said to send it to them for repairs. We boxed it up but it was about 8 weeks before we could take it back as my boyfriend was working 7 days a week on project. I told them I didn't want it repaired or replaced, just a refund. they phoned 2 weeks later to say it had been repaired. I said I wanted refund again but am still waiting to hear. Does anyone know for sure if I am legally entitled to refund?
