I think it should be legal because then (like other people mentioned you could regulate the stuff). I think that the people who want to use drugs are still going to, whether it's legal or not and the people that don't want to use it, aren't suddenly going to go crazy and start doing it. Running someone over and hurting people in any way will still be a crime, no matter under what influence you are. So I think if it becomes legal and adults openly talk to kids about it, the situation would have been dealt with in a more mature way.

Yes! I think the government would make a lot of money off the taxes and it's better than alcohol or tobacco. How often do you hear that someone caused and accident because they were high on pot. You don't usually it's because they were drinking and driving. I don't think the more harmful drugs like heroine, crack or cocaine should be legalized. However, if they were to legalize Marijuana at least some of the drug dealers would be off the street. They wouldn't have any product to sell if it was legal.

It makes sense in a lot of ways.
But it never will happen because, as someone mentioned earlier, the government would have too hard a time taxing it. I guarantee you that's the leading reason it hasn't been done. If the pols could figure that out, they'd have all kinds of justifications for the conservative backlash about it.

What pisses me off about the conservative attitude about it is that it even leads to the outlawing of hemp, which could be such a boon to our economy. I mean the non-THC variety, of course. It even could lead to a source of alternative fuels! Yet soccer moms all over the country are terrified their babies will grow up to be pot-heads.
Well how about this; how about you do some F'ing parenting, and keep them from feeling like they NEED to get high in the first place!

Good question. If marijuana were legalized, the FDA could regulate it and there would be a lot less crime. Unfortunately, you also have the liability issues of people doing stupid things while stoned who end up getting hurt or hurting someone else. Driving while stoned would be a problem too (yes, a lot of people do it -- many of my relatives are in law enforcement and they see it all the time). I don't know; I have a real problem legalizing a drug that people use to escape reality, but lots of people use alcohol to escape reality and it's legal, so there's no easy answer...

Of course it should. There's the argument that it's never gonna go away, and that's true. There's the argument of the tax money that could be gained (and put towards health care), and that's true. Thre's the argument that crime would be reduced, which I don't think is true, but it certainly wouldnt hurt. There's the argument that people would then start smoking dope instead of drinking adn dope is less harmful to the body, and less physically addictive than booze, which is true. And there's the argument that we are policed enough as it is, and if your not hurting anyone, why outlaw--also true. So yeah, it should be, it should also be studied more for medicinal use, and people should relax about the stuff--it's grass, it ain't heroin!

Haha... lately my attitude is that it should be legalised, but the age limit should be 50 years old... or even 65 if you like. Like seriously, does ANYONE care if old people smoke marijuana for their medical ailments... their cataracts... their chronic pain? They definitely should not be arrested for this... unless they are stupid enough to drive impaired.

Overall, I think it should be legalised, with an age limit of 18 or 21, but I just think that the age limit of 50 or 65 is something that everyone would be okay with... all of the concerned parents of America could rest easy, knowing that their teenagers weren't getting their hands on the "gateway drug" (a theory of which I personally think is bullshit, but some people buy into it...)

yes. Alcohol has been legal and continues to kill people for numerous reasons a every day. Weed has not killed nearly as many people. I'ts dumb that it is'nt legal. Look at some parts of Canada. Everybody gets along there. The world did'nt colaps.
Weeds a plant, how is it illegal. The Govt sucks balls

of course it should. it makes me angry when people don't think it should be. there are so many drinking and driving accidents, when was the last time you heard of some one dying from smoking weed. alcohol is a far worse drug than marijuana is, and it is legal, it doesn't make sense. marijuana is not addictive, you don't get a hang over from it the next morning, and it doesn't poison your liver. it also helps people with cancer get through chemotherapy, it helps with nausea and gives them an appetite. it definitly is not a big deal to smoke weed in canada as it is in the states, if the liberals were still in power here marijuana would probably be legalized already.

Yes. Although it is dangerous, there are other dangerous items that are also legal. Making it legal would also make it regulated, and taxed.

It would also severely cut down on crime as Johnson and Johnson and pfizer pharmaceuticals would put the mob and the gangs out of business with a better quality and cheaper producte.
