The reason why I ask is because I work for this agency (confidentially), and they are involve in credit (hint hint), they had a training class full of 8 and now this is our last week, and if you dont meet their standards they feel they can fire you on the spot. I am one of two left now and they say if by tomorrow my accuracy is not up, then they cant use me.....what are my rights, what can I do, because when we origionally got hired, we did not know we would work in that specific arena nor did we know we could get fired for not passing a 8 day training with a 80%....they use to give people a month to catch on. I pressume they are fire happy.

If we knew an irreversible catastrophic change in earths environment was certain to happen in the future and that Humankind had ONLY two choices. Choice number one being we as humans do nothing, accept our fate and allow our species to perish forever OR the second choice, alter the genetics of humans to adapt to the new environment and guarantee the survival of humans? What is your answer?

his reason for not hiring me,

i called the district manager up, and he said that when i resigned, i didn't give proper notice.

however, the way i quit, was i asked him if i could talk with him, and i told him that i really needed some time to myself, and i asked him if i could quit, and he said i could.

he then said he'd go through the channels, and that I could work there again one day.

What he said over the phone however was that I didn't go through the proper channels, and that I didn't give 2 weeks notice.. but my problem is that I went straight to him, and he was the one that did the paperwork for me.

That just can't be legal!

I live in an apartment with my mother and a friend of hers. She pays rent to stay with her friend since she is the owner of the home. Can she just throw us out any given day or does she need some sort of permission or legal document to make us leave? Basically what I'm saying is that she is not giving us any time to look for another place or to earn enough money to leave, she is just throwing us out out of nowhere. Can she do that?

First of all, if your not familiar with law, click the back button now.

Here's the story. I quit my job a few months ago. I did it with proper notification and no ill-will. The district manager even said that I could work there again one day.

Last week, I called into the store, and they had an opening for me. I sent my application and I was going to be called in for an interview, however when relayed to the District Manager, he denied my application.

Is that legal?

This is from a Washington Post article:

"The Bush administration has drafted amendments to a war crimes law that would eliminate the risk of prosecution for political appointees, CIA officers and former military personnel for humiliating or degrading war prisoners, according to U.S. officials and a copy of the amendments.

Officials say the amendments would alter a U.S. law passed in the mid-1990s that criminalized violations of the Geneva Conventions, a set of international treaties governing military conduct in wartime. The conventions generally bar the cruel, humiliating and degrading treatment of wartime prisoners without spelling out what all those terms mean."

The rest of the article is here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14236728/

So whaddya think? It seems to me the thinking here is that if the administration can get the law changed, they can't be charged with crimes of which they know they are currently guilty of committing.

his public defender is saying that he most likely get 9-16 months and he has already served 6 and has yet to be arraigned. he has no prior record and the robbery was unarmed. he supposedly got away with 7 grand. i was just wondering how realistic is it for him to get 9-16 months considering this crime? it seems like too much of a lenient sentence for a crime like this. please answer if u have knowledge of the law and please serious answers only!

Allowing bullying to go on in the workplace knowing full well this person has been disciplined for this before. Failing in their duty of care to employees for ignoring this and then allowing the bully, after an investigation by outside investigator uncovers damming info to resign. They then tell complainants nothing can be done because resigned.
What will happen now to other people. We need this to never happen again but this has already cost us thousands of pounds and can not afford solicitor. Back at work now with bully gone but this could happen to someone else because they have got away with it and I feel a line has not been drawn underneath. Not even an apology as like they say this is an admittance. Any advice please.

WE HAVE A GERMAN SHEPARD RIGHT NEXT DOOR TO US, HE HAS ALREADY ATTACKED MY CATS TWICE, AND GONE AFTER MY 3 YEAR OLD SON. LUCKILY I GOT HIM OUT OF HARMS WAY. IT CLEARLY STATES IN THE HOA RULES THAT NO INTIMIDATING BREEDS ARE ALLOWED, PET MUST BE ON A LEASH, AND CANNOT BE OVER 40 POUNDS. HE IS NEVER ON A LEASH WHICH IS WHY HE HAS BEEN FREELY CHASING MY CAT AND SON. I HAVE CALLED THE POLICE AND ANIMAL CARE AND CONTROL. THE POLICE KEEP TELLING THERE'S NOTHING THEY CAN DO UNLESS THEY SEE FOR THEMSELVES THE DOG WITHOUT A LEASH, ANIMAL CARE AND CONTROL KEEPS GIVING HIM WARNINGS. NOW THE DOG OWNER HAS BEGAN TO THREATEN ME AND MY HUSBAND ON A DAILY BASIS BY MAKING GESTURES OUT HIS WINDOW AND CALIING US NAMES. WHAT CAN WE DO??? I AM JUST TRING TO KEEP MY FAMILY SAFE.

To make a long story short, I went through tolls for a week without realizing my account was depleted. The buzzer went off on the Southbound trip, but never went off on the Northbound trip. I had been told by the EZpass lady that if my account was empty the buzz would sound, my account would simply be billed & I would pay it. Unfortunately she was wrong. For each trip I was billed the toll, plus a $13 fee. I now owe $184 in fines. I appealed and asked for mercy since it was an innocent mistake. They denied it and are making me pay up. I've sent in the tolls I owed them, but not money for the fines. For less than 10 trips through the tunnel I have to pay $184?! Its not like I ran the tollbooth w/out a EZpass. Why isn't this handled in court like an MTA ticket. EZpass shouldn't be allowed to impose fines without any oversight. I want a judge to hear my case like you can do with a meter violation? How can they get around this, and do I have any options. Save your scoldings.

One question in case you missed it was, "Liberals run this web site?" Well, best answer went to a conservative who was crying wolf! Poor conservatives have nothing orginal to say, but "I like to kill the bad guys, and my life is complete since this war has given me the chance to express myself," and, "Thank God for Bush and his stubbornness," and "Not one more troop well be brought home until they are all dead," Rummy; and who could forget "Dead Eye" Dick!

I know I can make copies of my music for my personal use. This is a gray area: I would not be copying the sheet music I'm using, but I would be replicating someone's work in another form. If the issue is whether or not the composer/publisher gets money, my action could influence people not to pay money for audio recordings of the music by other musicians, but it could also influence them to buy the sheet music (I have a lot of musician friends).

Basic situation - involving state employment issue - employer COMPLETELY lied under oath in a recorded phone hearing. Am talking obvious provable lies - that I moved from CA with two horses (fact I moved from IL with NO horses) and misrepresented/lied about qualifications (completely untrue and HE CHECKED REFERENCES on hiring). Also said horses were not neglected despite one starving to death and having over 20 with ribs, hipbones showing, an eye injury he wouldn't spend $15 for something to keep the flies out of etc. (photograph evidence available as proof).
These are serious things that slander my reputation and were stated and he repeated to the state official several times he would stand by it and not amend it. They are lies that can be proven...but how/where to take it?

In most legal systems ignorance is not a defence (ie. you can't plead innocent to a crime just because you didn't know it was illegal). But my question is, is this fair? Some aspects of law are so technical, normal people can't be expected to know about every little detail. And I'm not just talking about complicated business or financial law here, I'm thinking of laws that affect people's lives such as laws regarding alcohol, drugs and sex.
