Depends on the state and the law!

In my state if it is over $1,000 it is a class A felony with a penalty of 7 1/2 to 15 years in prison per charge. The Statute of Limitations is 7 years.

A Class B is 5 to 7 years in prison and 5 year statute

Misdemeanor theft is 1 year in the House of Corrections, not prison, and has a 1 year statute of limitations!
