I really need to change my son's last name. He was not given his biological father's name, because of circumstance. So, my ex wanted him to have his last name. He abandoned us 2 yrs ago, and haven't heard from him since. Now, my son is 3, and I want him to have my last name, as he doesn't remember my ex...and his real father is in prison, and JUST found out he's the father. He (my son's biological father), is ok with me giving our son my last name, but I just want to know what it entails, how much it will cost...anyone have ANY idea? Will legal aid help me out even though I'm not a single mom anymore? I spoke to a lawyer shortly after my ex abandoned us, and he said legally, we had to wait a full year before we could do ANYTHING (ie, take his name off birth cert, name change and social security number) I'm desperate for answers. Can anyone help?

Which is more ethical and humane? Allowing early stage human embryos from fertility clinics that are not implanted to be used for potentially life-saving research, or throwing them in the trash, like they are required to do now?

I am going to court , child support court, and am looking for information on filing a motion for discovery so that my ex has to furnish the court with all of the documentation of his employment. He is self employed and I have no doubts he is hiding income, etc. he has taken me back to child support court 7 times in 3 years tring to decrease, suspend and/or have his back due child support altered.
We are living in poverty, I am working, and have 2 sons with emotional and behavioral issues. He is living a much better life, financially, and justs wants out of paying his support. Plus he is always late..sometimes 7-8 months behind, and no sanctions have been placed on him as of yet. I want and need to make this next hearing really count, by hitting him as hard as I can with all of the discrepencies, etc. listed that I can and also by using all of the motions I can to have him hed accountable once and for alll.
If you know of this motion of discovery, any help would be appreciated..Thanks

In the 2nd Amendment it says the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED. Why is it now you have to have all these documents to possess a firearm. Isn't that breaking the constitutional amendment.

She won't even help to fix the place up. she just wants to pocket the money. Is there anything legally we can do considering deceased name is still on all the documents for the house and he has been dead for 5 years now? This is the story I'm talking about. Personaly, I think this is really wrong. The kid was only 12 years old. I think that is the definition of extreme, in more ways than one. I wanna hear what others think about it.

Ok this is what happened ...I went and got a Cadillac from a car lot after 2 days things started going out in the car first the starter, then main computer in the car, then the ignition module, and something else to do with the ignition. I wouldnt have complained but here is the catch...the car lot put a computer thing in the car when i got it so if you dont make your payments it shuts the car down. After paying out 2,000 dollars for all the parts and labor for this stuff i talked to a mechanic who has dealt with this car lot before and said that i wasnt the first person to have this happen to them. He told me that if your car is computerized like mine was then this thing that the car lot put in it can send computer gliches to your car and screw everything up. out of 3 months the car only ran for a week. They FINALLY picked it up today and told me they are going to sell the car and I will have to pay the remainder of the note on the car.. This isnt fair...is it legal

I work for the Local Government where I am basically my own boss with weekends off and I am not that stressed out making $45,000 a year. On the other hand my whole life I have been wanting to go to Law School, I have been accepted to a leading Law School with a full Scholarship, what should I do?
I can attempt to do both but if I ended up having to cut one loose, which one should see the door?
