This was Ross Perot's answer to illegal immigration years ago..about fifteen years ago and no one would listen..I thought it was brilliant., and we had the opportunity, when they asked for a 50+ billion dollar loan under Slick Willie's regime, to make it a stipulation as part of the loan, to make their wage equivilant to ours...would this solve the problem? I think it would

In the recent bill, i've read that they're going to impliment a point system that would make immigration based on the benefit you make to the U.S. Economy. What do you think? Personally i think it's an interesting idea. That way we get more engineers, doctors, lawyers, etc.... That way we bring people who are beneficial to the economy instead of those draining services. Although there may be a problem with Americans loosing skilled high paying jobs to foreigners. What do you guys think?

I think the Immigration Bill is a step in the right direction.
This huge 'problem' has to be solved before the '08 election, otherwise it will just stay another polarising issue, and there are enough of these already. Mass deportation is not a viable solution, so a way of integrating illegals must be the logical way.
A clean criminal record, having a job and learning English should be the criterion.
What is your solution?

Should a universal draft of all 18-25 year olds be part of the Immigration Bill and include all registered aliens? This would be a way for aliens to earn their citizenship. Also, they would also be exposed to our culture and heritage for 2 years. Also our own American youths would be exposed to people from different parts of the country and different cultures.

What happens when these illegals become citizens? Do they then not what to do the "difficult" work?
Let us face the fact that we need illegals to satisfy our need to pay unfair wages, no benefits, and we reap the rewards. The illegal, who is here just to make some money and go home, is great for us. He doesn't have to really learn our language or blend into our culture. He is here only temporarily.
It is when they want to stay (can't blame them) and when they put demands on our social services -then we all pay for the greed of those who have exploited these people.

These are people, just like us. Does anyone really believe that they would work at these difficult jobs, for low wages, no benefits and live in substandard housing if they had a choice? It is the fact that they are illegal that makes them valuable and it is are willingness to open the avenue for them to make the money to make it to their benefit.
No illegals - then who does the work?

Ceasar Chavez...as Christians, we need to always help everyone...anyone who asks,...but what the government and all people should know, that Christians also abide by the laws of the land and have respect for our government..so when we say to render unto Ceasar what is Ceasars,...we don't mean Ceasar Chavez..we Mean, the government..so why doesn't the government do this too? They want all of us to abide by their laws, so why don't they?

if not more...does anyone remember that? The borders were so tightened up, that no one could get in...Not terrorists, not illegals, not drug dealers..so what is stopping them from doing this now? Your opinion?

Does America have the resources, jobs or healthcare for all the masses pouring in ?
Does anyone else who's been born and raised here - maybe 3rd , 4th, 5th generation American feel they are going to get cheated out of everything they and their families worked so hard for?
Why do these immigrants - like Eastern Europeans come over and establish little enclaves within neighborhoods and send all their money back home???
How is that American ?

Most, if not all, of the so called "illegal" imigrants in the USofA are here to try to get a better life, usually because they can not get it back home.

If we US Americans then accuse them of being criminals because they are here "illegally" because there are laws against them, and subsequently, we should treat them as criminals, then, for all you USof A people who believe this, how many crimes are you guilty of? And since you ARE guilty of something, then should you not step forward and pay the price for your guilt?
*Have you ever "J-walked?" that is a crime (because it threatens your safety)
*Have you ever driven faster than the speed limit? that is a crime, again for safety reasons. What was your excuse? Because you wanted to get to where you were going an extra 5 minutes sooner? Because you did not plan well and are running late?
*Have you ever spit gum on the sidewalk, that is a crime
*Have you ever ridden a bicycle on the sidewalk, or against the traffic (most do), a crime

The estimated 12 million (more like 20 million) undocumented immigrants living in the United States could be put on the path to citizenship under a new immigration bill agreed upon Thursday by a bipartisan group of senators.

The 380-page bill, which comes after nearly three months of negotiations, would give immediate work authorization to undocumented workers who arrived in the United States before January 1, 2007.

Heads of household would have to return to their home country within eight years, and they would be guaranteed the right to return.

Applicants would also have to pay a $5,000 penalty

Additionally, the number of Border Patrol agents would be doubled.

The bill is going to the Senate next week and if it passes, will then proceed to the House.

This might be the best deal we're going to get from Washington, what do you think?

With the new bill coming through the Congress to allow a path to citizenship for illegal aliens, we will now hear the screams of those who oppose any sort on amnesty for those who broke our laws to get here. I have to admit that my first reaction is you should not be rewarded for breaking our laws.

However, how can you expect to make any 'reform' work if you can not get the illegal aliens to come forward and register so you know who and where they are? And what possible incentive could they have to come out of hiding if they have no chance of becoming legal?

My suggestion:
1) A 4 to 6 month period of amnesty where an illegal immigrant could come forward and register and receive a federal ID which would also be a work permit.
2) After that, instant deportation if caught without that ID in the US and a permanent ban on reentry.
3) A delayed but valid path to citizenship for all who follow our laws and pay their taxes.
4) Use their SS tax to buy them into Medicare system.

I've been on the internet for a few weeks trying to find work and live in the USA. Being a soon to be divorcee, it seems that no country would allow adult single females. One has to be between a certain age group or married with kids to be accepted. Are over 40 independent ladies not permitted? I was just wondering as I'm interested in living in the US. I'm from SA.

In the UK we have had some mass immigration for some years now. One thing is clear: All people come here, Eastern Bloc, Indian, Pakistani, oriental, somalians etc.

I have noticed that all of these groups try to integrate with our society, except for those muslim peoples from the indian sub-continent, mainly Pakistan but to a lesser extent India.

The difference here is that these people try to pack out one area, and take it over. Bradford, within 20 years, now has an all Muslim Council, electorate, and nearly all business and commerce is muslim owned - they are calling for it to be governed by muslim rule. The same thing is happening in Leicester, and there are so many coming in, Im worried where it might stop.

Is this just a UK thing, or do they try to take over your country too?

My family and I are thinking of applying for the Canadian permanent residence very soon. I want to be self-employed by opening a shop/small business while my spouse who is a foreign doctor can practice there or work in a hospital/clinic. I seem bewildered by the pros and cons about living in Canada. Some say even foreign doctors really have a hard time finding jobs despite the shortage of doctors there; due to scarcity of jobs or bureaucracy, educated people have to take jobs as cab drivers or pizza men, for instance. Some even have the websites for those disliking Canada: www.notcanada.com and tell all kind of scary experiences there. Some for Canada say it's certainly a great place to be. I went to schools in the US, loved it there and have siblings living there permanently, but I'm worried about the high crime rate due to its relaxed gun control. So,I'm now thinking of Canada instead. Please could anyone help me give inputs here? Thank you very much, all!GBU!

Hi! A friend of mine was fled to Kathmandu relative's home from a rural villiage because Maoists neighbors threw the bombs in her big property a few years ago. Recently she went back to reclaim her stolen properties, but found out they all destroyed her houses and were making the road entirely. Absolutely gone. Even if Maoist community party made an interim government with major political party, but they openly threaten the people who lost all their property in rural area. They don't like those people coming back to reclaim their old properties. They still terrorize now even in Kathmandu.
The term of refugee means this people is out of
homeland according to UNHCR. She barely survives in Kathmandu by a little help from me,( I am American.) but she lost all the house and property. Nothing to have. She has to flee to other country. She needs some protection.
In this case, could she claim resettlement to other nation under the recommendation by UNHCO?
Or women at risk case? Any help?

what is this malarky the politicians are talking with this new amnesty plan? why do they plan to filter aliens based on skill levels? is that so that skilled american workers must accept lower wages to the point of poverty--because skilled aliens will take their jobs for lower wages?

aliens have notoriously taken UNSKILLED labor jobs in the usa, which took those jobs away from american people who may be best suited to them--at least to feed their kids! our kids! our future!

so now who shall become the welfare state of the near future? will it be comprised of both undereducated amercans best suited for the trades and jobs such as taxi cab driver, landscaper, butcher, TOOL AND DIE MAKER (boy! do we need that trade here in the usa again!) as well as our highly educated american born citizens, whose college education costs $40,000/year TODAY?

what about native born americans? any color, size, shape, education, religion, et al.? what about our own people? where will we go to work??

We are running short of too many resourses without increasing our population unnessarily. It is not right to grant benefits of legal status to people that started their tenure in this country as a criminal, regardless of why they are here.

I've been a permanent resident for 6 years.
I recently mailed in my citizenship application.
The problem I have is that my girlfriend of 6 years who happens to be an illegal immigrant (came to USA at age of 5, is now 23) wants to get married this coming June. She doesnt want to wait until I get my citizenship because a day in June is special to her and she doesnt want to wait another year.

Is it possible to do so? Will she get citizenship permanent residency and a social security number?
And then later, perhaps apply for citizenship when I receive mine?

Thank you for your info.

There are those who are enthusiastic about the bill and those who have their doubts. There are some who are reserving judgment. The bill takes steps to close the border but offers a path to citizenship for those now in the country illegally. Because of the penalties associated with it you can't really call it amnesty.

Should there be amnesty? Is this a good bill? Is it a good step toward resolving our porous border situation in the U.S., and could European countries use a similar approach to resolve their own immigration problems?

What do you think? Answers invited from anyone who has an opinion, pro or con, and in or out of the U.S.

How would you feel if 20 million africans illegally entered the U.S, marched and demanded rights and amnesty, would you mind?

What about if 20 million from Europe did that too and asians?

To all from Mexico that are getting amnesty, let's say you become a citizen and suddenly you are in the legal system and feel more at ease but you've noticed hospitals are closing down around you, you can't find a job because someone is hiring only african illegal immigrants and then the government says they are going to grant them amnesty, would you be okay with that?

I'm outraged by our bullies in the office. They pick on middle easterners knowing they aren't well equipped but right here at home, they just let things fall apart and act sociopathic.

This is setting an example for the future.
