I consider myself American. Unfortunately it has taken me a long time to have found my father, who had been stationed in Germany in 1959 in Baumholder, where I was born in 1960, but I found him at last. At the age of 35 I found him; at that time he was already dead. But I found my two half-siblings in Georgia and visited them; altogether we were at his grave. That was very moving to me. I am grateful I have found my family over there.
My heart wish is to be accepted in my American identity by American authorities. My sister in Atlanta is willing to do DNA testing due to proof our relationship. Is there anybody out there who can give advice in this matter?
What could be possible steps on the way to US citizenship?
I feel unhappy here in Germany, and since 9/11 I feel more and more close to my American roots and I need to move.
Thanks for reading this and thanks in advance.
God bless America.

Would you discover something known as EMPATHY then?

We have to admit it, people, we are the product of a racist country that aspires to be multicultural and diverse. We enslaved African Americans, denied citizenship rights to certain nationalities (quotas affecting mostly eastern europe and asia). We are xenophobic and don't just need to reform our historically racist immigration policy, but our attitudes towards others. An illegal is no more criminal than you trailer park trash that probably have a DUI or get caught shoplifting.

Point is, if the HORRIBLE TERRIBLE TRAGIC "illegal" immigrants were from Germany or some other similar nation, another Cock ROOSTER would Croak.

Americans just need to accept the fact that Spanish is going to be the second most spoken language in the US. Although this whole illegal immigration issue is so controversial one of the main problems with this topic is that supposely illegal immigrants refuse to adapt to the American culture and refuse to learn the main language English.
Fine, illegal immigrants don't want to speak/or learn English, but the Mexicans who were either born in the US or are here legally (most of us) speak Spanish also. We are proud of our rich culture and most of us choose to teach Spanish to our children, grandchildren and so on....So why isn't it okay for things to also be spanish?? If the so-called Americans are okay with legal Mexicans, keep in mind we're not going to forget our culture just because we have to assimilate to the American ways, AND spanish IS part of our culture.

I would rather have 1,000 illegal Mexican immigrants in our country than 1 legal Muslim immigrant.

If they were really serious about stopping illegals from crossing into this country, they would have done it already, instead of waiting for this new immigration bill to pass,30 years ago we went through the same problem and politicians like Ted Kennedy were in office promising this same lie,if they didn't keep their word then they will not keep it this time either,we don't need new laws to enforce what already is considered illegal

What would you do if you were and international student in the USA. Then you drop out school to start your own business and work simultaneously in a project with some other friend but things get tied up because you loose your immigration status. Then you find a job to get some extra income but it will take a while to get the funds enough for it...one solution is to get out the USA and apply for your visa again but i will not result positively if the country your are from is Venezuela which has so many dificult problems right now.
give me your thoughts thanks.

Like California, Arizona, Texas.. We were having a debate in class and this person brought it up. She said "These states are ours and America took them from us". Besides, why does that even matter? This land belongs to the US now, can't people get over that and stop using that as an excuse as to why they're over here illegally?

why is that if people from non white countries illegaly immigrate to US, there is a big fuss about it but when people people from european countries immigrate suddenly everything is OK
i bet, mexicans and other south Americans arent the only illegall immigrants in the US, there are several European illegals living in the country and not to mention africans
therefore my question is why are we targeting only the south Americans, y not others as well

Well, somepeople understand the reasons that thaey have to come here. Others, Think That they are invading their property. For my personal opinion they have the right to search for a better life something that they can't have in their own country.
What do you think? What is your opinion?

Poeple get mad!.......the audience booed Miss USA off the stage until she was forced to speak spanish. Then they applauded her. Screw that! they can come here and they make demands on our country? That poor young lady, just in a beauty paegent and they pick out American Politics on her. Shame on you Mexico............ you need some lessons in class. I propose that all American owned and opporated business force English as our native tougue. Give them a taste of their own medicine it's time we take back our country. This belongs to Americans not Alians or illegals. My anncesstors came over to this country from Italy. They learned the lauguage and the American ways. My family helped build the railroads and my father wired the first 45 floors of the John Hancock Building in Chicago. My Dad was a Military Police Officer for the United States Army and faught in WWII. What have these people done for us? Foriegnors should not have the same rights as Americans. If so become an American! AMEN!

I was watching a bogus documentary a couple of weeks ago where this reporter went around interviewing mexicans and asking them if they were up to date on the immigrant problem they faced (referring to people migrating INTO Mexico) and asking what they thought of it. I was surprised and a bit remorseful at the fact that more than half of t/people interviewed said that it 'wasn't right' for t/immigrants to do this seeing as mexicans had enough problems of their own and that they didn't need anymore people causing chaos in their country. WTH? do they not realize that it's a bit hypocritical of them to say, when most of t/immigrant population coming into the US are from Mexico and surrounding countries?!

See, I am neither for or against t/whole immigration thing, but I say that if they (referring to t/Mexicans in this particular case) want to have equal rights and opportunities in t/US, couldn't they at least try and accept others who are dealing with t/same issues over in Mexico?
