I consider myself American. Unfortunately it has taken me a long time to have found my father, who had been stationed in Germany in 1959 in Baumholder, where I was born in 1960, but I found him at last. At the age of 35 I found him; at that time he was already dead. But I found my two half-siblings in Georgia and visited them; altogether we were at his grave. That was very moving to me. I am grateful I have found my family over there.
My heart wish is to be accepted in my American identity by American authorities. My sister in Atlanta is willing to do DNA testing due to proof our relationship. Is there anybody out there who can give advice in this matter?
What could be possible steps on the way to US citizenship?
I feel unhappy here in Germany, and since 9/11 I feel more and more close to my American roots and I need to move.
Thanks for reading this and thanks in advance.
God bless America.

Document your relation to your father who is an American such as the birth certificate, marriage contract of your parents or military records. The record of the DNA testing is crucial to prove relationship with your siblings. Submit all of these to the US Embassy to apply for US citizenship and hope that your request will be granted.
