why choose SKILLED aliens? what about skilled AMERICANS working in america?

Question

what is this malarky the politicians are talking with this new amnesty plan? why do they plan to filter aliens based on skill levels? is that so that skilled american workers must accept lower wages to the point of poverty--because skilled aliens will take their jobs for lower wages?

aliens have notoriously taken UNSKILLED labor jobs in the usa, which took those jobs away from american people who may be best suited to them--at least to feed their kids! our kids! our future!

so now who shall become the welfare state of the near future? will it be comprised of both undereducated amercans best suited for the trades and jobs such as taxi cab driver, landscaper, butcher, TOOL AND DIE MAKER (boy! do we need that trade here in the usa again!) as well as our highly educated american born citizens, whose college education costs $40,000/year TODAY?

what about native born americans? any color, size, shape, education, religion, et al.? what about our own people? where will we go to work??

is this plan collusion between rich politicians and big business, as well as unions? or is it a plan by the politicians to supply themselves with a magically new, large number of voters for the 2008 election? who do they expect them to vote for? democrats, i guess--teddy kennedy is a democrat.

why has this plan been secretly hidden for a year from us, now to have pressure from both libs and conservatives (like bush!) to slide it past us by may 21 and not later? i don't think we know the whole story, i don't think we know the fine points of this bill enough to allow it to be passed! do you? if you know, kindly tell us!

why don't our own highly skilled, educated, and experienced engineers make our border "strong enough" so that politicians don't need to dream up secretive, mysterious, confusing methods to deal with AMNESTY? More..

... well, what about those fines that will be "up to: $5,000? who will assess these "fines?" what are they for? who will get these fines? who will decide how much the fine will be? will there be a sliding scale down to a $1.00 fine? why is there a fine--what purpose does it have?

now, what about the requirement that heads of families must first return to their home countried (mexico for now, soon to be iraq--afterall, the UN demands that we take in another 200,000 muslims)? what does this provision do to bring us any progress, any gain, anything at all? what does it do for the aliens?

and as of now, how will illegal immigrants spit up this "fine?" why aren't they questioning it? is amnesty for them so valued that they agree to have to leave the place where they work, go back for a while to their country (why?), pay a fine, then come back, but only if they prove how "skilled" they are?

other stories say that this new plan will afford them the luxury of bringing in their ->...

...bringing in their PARENTS and a spouse that's never lived here. why? really? do you see how little we know?

what does greater border control (what kind?) have to do with becoming a permanent resident at some future time?

what kind of "high tech" ID program will be put in place while they go back and forth to their native country, then back here? what is the purpose of the "high tech" ID program? is "high tech" iris identification? or is it more cameras that won't do a darned thing other than waste our tax dollars?

WE SHOULD FLOOD THE WHITE HOUSE, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, AND THE SENATE demanding that every single part of this plan is clearly explained to us, and, i state, this one sure is ripe for ONLY a referendum vote. because i don't think it represents our (native born americans) reasoning or our way of life that supposedly we are trying to protect!

why was this plan cloaked in secrecy only to become so very urgent NOW??? what wool is being pulled over our eyes?

BRILLIANT IDEA, RE: SOUTH OF BORDER ALIENS: why doesn't mexico and every central american country become states of the usa? no "alien" problem from THEM then...

actually, maybe that's the true way to get as much unity as is possible ON THIS CONTINENT to fight against terrorism...

we could also invite every country in south america, other than venezuela of course, to become additional states. then with a nod from the queen, perhaps canada will join in and then, voila! no more continental alien problems, a high tax base, more voters... ah, but THAT, now, would not lead to lower wages! a whole hemisphere united and working would swing the pendulum to the other end of the spectrum whereby demands for HIGHER wages would be made, therefore, another fight for unions. that might not be a pipe dream: unification of the nations of this hemisphere... then not only would our own born go to fight those that wish to KILL US (infidel).

TO MIRIAM W: we are so fortunate that albert einstein (actually a pacifist eventually shamed that his theories led to our using atomic warfare) was able to ESCAPE from the nazis! BUT TRULY, think about this: what rules are in place to become a citizen that require one to have any skills whatsoever? they are supposed to learn our bill of rights and constitution (and at least those of european descent do learn them, because i personally KNOW them) almost better than we know those documents.

WHAT ABOUT OUR OWN PEOPLE? DO THEY NOT PAY ENOUGH FOR COLLEGE, SUCH AS AT THE PRIVATE, EXPENSIVE UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO (i lived in that community and worked there, so i KNOW that brilliant mathematicians and physicists make up the majority of the student body), OR WORK HARD ENOUGH, TO BECOME BRILLIANT SCIENTISTS and other highly-skilled members of our work force and even our armed services?

Do you care that our own people are being sold out? Do you want to live on welfare???

I'll tell you how this process works. First, an ad is placed in the paper which advertises a job for a certain amount of pay. If that job is not applied for by a qualified american citizen, then that job goes to someone who is WILLING to take that job, that's what keeps our economy going, it's not rocket science. if a job pay $12 an hour, let's say someone who washes dishes, and NO AMERICAN APPLIES FOR THE JOB, b/c most americans want better paying jobs, then that job goes to some POOR immigrant who is willing to wash crap for 10 hrs a day for $12 an hour. So when you have that kind of system going then the labor pool will be filled with people who are willing to do that job, because no american is willing to take it....it's no rocket science, and people, please please use your heads, our congress is not stupid, they know how the system works, THAT'S WHY WE ARE THE MOST POWERFUL COUNTRY IN THE WORLD, NOT BECAUSE OF PEOPLE WHO QUESTION EVERYTHING AND DO NOTHING, BUT BECAUSE OF PEOPLE WHO QUESTION EVERYTHING AND DO EVERYTHING ABOUT IT.

The legal immigrants is more of a problem with me. I foundout that in my industry the companies merged into a few large corporation. THey got together and refuse to raise our salaries to attract new college students to study our profession. THey then go to the government and complain about the shortage and to hire from other countries. The problem is people trained in foreign countries are inferior. You can buy a college degree in the Philipines and colleges in India are poorly regulated and many of their colleges are just diploma mills. In the Philipines, the US banned all nurses from there because some government officials were helping Nurses cheat in some exam to get into the US. Cheating in board exam is wide spread and well organized in the Philipines. There is a democrat who is fighting the increase in skilled immigrants. My position is if there is a shortage of skilled workers, then someone should give raises to attract more people in that profession. THe middle class is shrinking in the US and its even worse in California.

edit: to reply to theshun: I had an interview a while back. The interview was suspicious, because they didn't even interview me at the job site. Later I got a letter stating that they were planning to hire someone from out of the country. THis was during a time when there was a surplus of workers in my field. I wrote back about my suspicions.

You guys can get your knickers in a twist blaming illegals for everything. Has anybody seen Jaywalking where Jay Leno asks average people simple questions? A huge percent of people out there don't even know who the freakin' Vice President is.... You gonna blame the Mexicans for this too? Unfortuanetly you are right. There seems to be a systematic attack on the middle class or to elemenate the middle class in this country.
I see this President as the one responsible. He was "elected" on what platform. To give a tax break to the 1% of americans who are the richest. Incase you didn't know this is the demographic from which our current president comes. He really has no conception of what it means to be be middle class -- to have to work. He does not have to and never has.
After giving the top 1% this break, immigration becomes the next goal. Yes, that's right bringing down wages. So, se get things l;ike the current abuse of the H-1B immigration status. This was a status to allow people who had skillss/knowedge that no one in this country had to come here. This is a legitmate concern. We would not want to hinder someone like warner vaon braun from commin here as he helped us to design and build our rocket to the moon. However, allowing people to come here just because they have skills in a particualr industry (not skills that people here don't have) like IT just serves to broaden the labor pool and thus drive wages down. What's more the people who are comming here, do not even have the skills to the same degree as the amereicans people who are already here. This is clearly an abuse a loop hole. If people like ou current president, whatever you think of the rest of his policies, are allowed to get away with this in the IT industry, what industry do you think will be next? That's right yours? Whatever business you are in whatever you do for a living will be comprimsed by less skilled foreighn workers (i didn't say unskillled I said less skilled than you) comming here and exerting a downward pressure on you wages. What irks me is that the democrats are going right along with this. My tow senators and my representative all democrats think that H-1B is just fine. Well wait till they start doing it in your profession. Tom Tancredo (if I got that right) does not though think it is just fine. He appears t5o understand this issue.

Just a little word of advice, illegal immigrants who are educated, with a college education, pay that and more for their college because for your information, they don't receive financial aid.

Oh, btw, if immigrants take away all the jobs from americans, how come at our hotel we never, ever see a last name Smith, Jones, etc on the housekeeping applications. Gee, at my job, that of a guard for city property, for goods purchased by the city and used by the city, the now legal alien Mexicans have much better paying jobs than I do.

In addition, the reason that I guard at least one of our city warehouses filled with metallic items such as copper tubing and pipes, that is for electrical work and for plumbing, is because so many ILLEGAL ALIENS come and break the locks and steal this metal so that they can bring it to junk yards in their broken down trucks (that don't even have current, paid city stickers on their windows like I have on my own truck) in order that the junk yards pay them CASH while the city has already paid for these NEW items to use for city work!

ILLEGAL ALIENS are going to reduce my income even more. Will they gain SKILLS of being a GUARD to become LEGAL aliens?
