Immigration - April 2007

My fiancé and I are thinking about traveling to Texas soon, to pick up a puppy we might be buying, as it can't be shipped to Mexico directly. I'm Dutch, so there's no problem with me entering the USA, but I'm wondering if anybody knows if my Mexican fiancé would be allowed to travel with me. We wouldn't leave the airport, we'd just arrive, pick up the puppy, and fly back home the same day...

They all do construction, which is what a lot of us Americans have been doing all our lives. They don't work on the farms anymore, they come here and get good paying jobs in construction. Here in Raleigh NC they are driving new trucks and now you see Lopez Construction, or Juan's drywall and painting. They are driving down wages and taking jobs from us and yet they are illegal. They are ruining my life, and more are coming.

Too many people migrate (I don't care if it's for political reasons or not) with no intention of becoming part of their new community or culture. I don't get it, why bother!

If you are forced into migration it shouldn't be any diferent. You will further your plight by isolating yourself.

Im serious I don't know. I don't mean to sound like a jerk Im just curious. Obviously it's a difficult process otherwise Mexicans would just come here the right way. Maybe we should look at making it a more welcoming process. Mexicans are going to come to the U.S. and take all the jobs that none of us want anyways. Lets see if we can encourge them and help them do it legally!

I have no hatred in my heart for immigrants. In fact I think that they tend to be more hard-working, family-oriented, and religious...Which is the problem. How can the younger generation of working-class Americans, most of whom are from dysfunctional families and schools, compete with these ambitious immigrants who come for opportunities more often than freedom?

Proceed to say that everybody who has been born and bred in this country since the reign of Henry VIII should all f*** home?

Isnt this being a tiny bit racist? Or am I mistaken? And why do they wonder about not being able to get work when they dont have the basic English skills to fill out an job centre application form? Its just easy for them to blame it on 'foreigners'.

Why cant the people who fit into the bracket above just be man enough to admit that they are racist? Come on you are big enough to hid behind a public forum to racially abuse people you are big enough to admit you are racist!!

why is that most of you on this section are blaming mexicans for everything bad that happens , I been reading some of your questions and most of them are about racism ,discrimination and all , somethings like " yeah . they dont pay taxes . they come here to kill my family , they are here to take our jobs ,my inssurance went up because maxicans", bull ++++ they do pay taxes , just like you and me , everyone kills , what about Timothy Mcveigh , and Terry Nichols. oklahoma bombers if you did not know , oh by the way those two are Americans , they are not to take nobodys job , just those that we dont want to do , minuteman go and pick up strawberrys for 1 day and see.if you can handle it, insurance goes up because . you are driving drunk . speeding , young teens recklessly driving I mean there is so many things man . lets just stop racism and discrimination . no one is taking our country .if we try to kick them out who is going to pick up those veggies you are about to eat today dah.

AMerica acts like nazi germany, justifying invasion after invasion, persecuting mexicans and accusing them of all their problems as scapegoats...They feel they are superior and that they ave the universal truth.Just like a superioir race. And americans dont know anything of whats going on outside their country.. will they end up the same way germans did? humilated and defeated?

heard the speaker talk about the over population that immigration is causing. over population, which seems to be a huge drain on resourses.

But is it just that, does it come down to money, as the big issue concerning immigration.

If so, do you think it would be more feasable that rather than trying to stop immigration altogether, to impose higher tax laws on immigrants (say for a period of 10 years ) and then have them pay taxes as any American ?

Some of you may think it would be unfair to have higher taxes imposed on them, but in fact many nations do do this on foreign corporations, so why not apply it to people ?
Besides some comprimises must be made, you cant have your cake and eat it too.

Also, I would like to know your opinion on:
As an american do feel job insecurity given the rise in immigration, if so do you think jobs should be given to qualified individuals given by preference to americans ?

Thanks for your responce, please no racial slurs

OK, well I met this dude at work a couple of years ago when we were working in Silicon Valley (San Jose, CA). We had really good jobs, and one day, the boss told us that the company (remains unnamed) is downsizing.

Well we both got fired and it really was sucks. So we had to sell our house (we had just bought one), and find a different source of income.

I thought a new path would be working in the country side, so we decided to sell everything and migrate to Gilroy and pick garlic, and spinich and help people sell it at the local fruit stands, etc.

Well we couldn't GeT Jobz bcs. they wer all taken by ILLEGALS.

What would Udo?

What action should I take?

why would you have children and bring them into your poor existence? I don't understand why people who have nothing and can barely take care of themselves find it neccesary to breed. Why do these same people come here to the United States and continue to have child after child with no way to support them, except government handouts of course.

....Other than extra cost to print Government Documents in other languages. That one I understand. I agree these should be printed exclusively in English. My question is this: how does using another language in someone's PRIVATE life negatively affect me?
