They all do construction, which is what a lot of us Americans have been doing all our lives. They don't work on the farms anymore, they come here and get good paying jobs in construction. Here in Raleigh NC they are driving new trucks and now you see Lopez Construction, or Juan's drywall and painting. They are driving down wages and taking jobs from us and yet they are illegal. They are ruining my life, and more are coming.

Illegal immigration must be solved in order not to deprive the Americans of job opportunities.

A recent statistic debunks the myth that Mexicans generally do jobs "real Americans" don't want. The data shows that only 3% of the jobs are the sort of menial farm labor for which it is difficult to get workers.

Here is how the huge influx of Mexicans has disrupted American society: when I was young, you could mow lawns in the summer and earn some money to go to the movies, or save up to buy something special. A lot of high school and college girls used to work in the local hotels as maids. All these modest, first jobs have disappeared. Therefore, many people have no work experience at all before they graduate from college.

Since these new companies you cite are illegal, they do not pay taxes. Therefore, they can pay their workers considerably less. This is killing American entrepreneurs.
We must find a way to stop this.

Same thing happened at the Swift meat packing Company after the I.C.E. raids, and the wages went up, what a shocker!

To "COW" - who the hell are you to suggest someone have "bigger dreams" and go to college to be an arcitect instead of being a construction worker? You arrrogant SOB!
Not everyone wants a "Career" some America Citizens just want a good paying job with insurance and a pension if that's alright with You.

Alot of Hispanics take the construction jobs because of the fact that contractors hire them because they do the job for a much cheaper price than what an American would want to do the hard labor for. If we were to kick all of them out of the U.S. and give the jobs to Americans, they would want to get paid more, which would make the cost of simple houses and buildings more expensive to build, which would make the cost of living go up...way up. If they're ruining your life be better comptetitor or just face the fact that Mexicans do it better! haha!!!!

I am not Hispanic so lets clear this up...take a trip out to California drive through Bakersfield Fresno area and see all those Americans working where?all you will see is back breaking work and in the summer under 100 degree temperatures all the way to Yuma Arizona and on and on.Illegal or not we get fruits and vegetables on our tables because of Mexican labor..they help keep our prices down across the board or why do you think they are hired in the first place. They work as dishwashers all over the country, painters, yard workers and any jobs that require someone to be there from morning till night 7 days a week in necessary.Juan and Lopez I`ll bet never had it handed to them and if they get hurt on the job there is no benefits for them or there families,I`m not saying you don`t work hard for what you want but there is plenty of work up in Washington State in Yakima or most any part of the state.Check it out on line and see.Yes likely there are more coming...and that's life.

i believe that Mexicans or any other immigrant, come here to get better jobs and i think its not appropriate for someone to call other countries crummy. i am grateful of this country, but You and I know the united states is not that fair and great as many people think. Yeah it provides everyone a better life and education, but there is still unfairness, for example compare the city life to the suburbs.
You know if it wasn't for those illegal immigrants you would not have fruits or vegetables in your table, or your lawn cut perfectly for the spring. You will personally, have that much to wear or a house to live in, and even have a well working faucet. America was build with slaves and immigrants, there is no book in history that states that a white person once picked cotton , or worked for several hours on a field starving and living in the worst conditions. Europeans and Americans have always been the lazy, wealthy and greedy house owners. So don't talk about immigrants that way, because they are doing what you don't want to do. As you self this question: Would you work 16 hours on a field, for 2 dollars and hour? and you know an immigrant who speaks two languages is better than one who only speaks one. Last but not least, immigrants are more successful in construction because they do a better job, and they work harder than you do, they use their heart when they do their jobs, because they know they came here to work and to have a better life. oh and many people think that illigal aliens don't pay taxes ,well that is not completely true, most and almost all pay their taxes through the IRS number, so don't claim falsely. Don't be racist and greedy!

i am a legal resident. when i came to america i did it the right way. also i own a farm. the way my old boss saw it when i did framing and drywall was that all the illegals that pack like 14 people in the back of an s10 with the tools always seemed to do shotty work and later called us to come and fix their mistakes. so it worked out. but on the other hand life isnt fair and this is a world of competition so if you cant run with the big dogs stay on the porch.

Its happening all over the country. Best you can do at this point is contact your elected officials and make it quite clear you do not want amnesty in any form. You can also join a grass roots effort (Minutemen, FAIR US, numbersusa......). If you see what you suspect to be a company hiring these illegals, pick up the phone, call ICE, if it appears to be a dangerous construction site, contact OSHA......

It's really bad in the Los Angeles area too. They can also get help and/or benefits that us native born Americans aren't entitled to although we've come from generations of tax payers. They are ruining alot of lifes and causing people to hate them. Perhaps we should all move to Mexico where there are no mexicans...ha-ha!

There's really nothing you can do about legal immigrants from Mexico. If a Mexican comes to the U.S. legally, and starts his/her own business, so be it. They have every right to. And, Mexicans are not the only people with hispanic names. How do you know that they are illegal? Profiling based on name?

Illegal aliens shouldn't be here at all. I don't care who they are, or where they're from. They need to leave. Period.

Actually, I have mostly read from _Americans_ that illegal aliens do the jobs that we wouldn't. I personally believe that's BS. I cleaned houses in college and if I had to, I would work on a farm. You have to do what you have to do, in order to provide for yourself and your family.

I am sorry to hear that - but I do wonder what can we do?
