125 people on death rows have been released with DNA evidence that they were wrongfully convicted. Several states like Virginia, Texas, Illinois etc etc have been found to sentence innocent people to death. However DNA evidence has only been available in 10% of cases, where someone was sentenced to execution.

New Jersey few days back banned death penalty. My question is that what is being done to prevent innocents from being put to death?

I do not see any development or progress made on this issue and all i hear is that pro-death penalty folks saying that executions are a must. Why are they a must if such errors are so widespread?

Im doing a research paper in english on torture in the us. we're talking about human rights and stuff. i've tried searching so many times using so many different phrases in different search engines and databases and the main subject coming up is the government. i'm going to use that information in my paper, BUT i DON"T want to focus JUST on the government.

***so, does anybody have any info on torture [in the us] in the privacy of say one's own home, or know of any secret torture groups, or have any idea where i can get ahold of some info like that? thank you!!!

p.s. if you can cite your info, that would be great!

p.p.s. i'm going to keep reposting this until people start READING it and ANSWERING it accordingly!!!

The fundamental reason for this loss of hope is that there seems to be no alternative to the capitalist system. Communism provided the fullest articulation of apparently revolutionary ideas in the twentieth century, and it has turned out a disaster. The idea of revolution has been defeated by the reality of it. Without an alternative to the system, fundamental change seems out of the question. We seem doomed to live in the grip of a system which defines human life in terms of its own imperatives of profit and loss, competition and inequality. It seems that the deepest human values and most important human relationships must forever be subordinated to the needs of the economy and the dictates of the elite.

ORANGEBURG, South Carolina (CNN) – Former President Bill Clinton said Monday that the first thing his wife Hillary will do when she reaches the White House is dispatch him and his predecessor, President George H.W. Bush, on an around-the-world mission to repair the damage done to America's reputation by the current president — Bush's son, George W. Bush.

"Well, the first thing she intends to do, because you can do this without passing a bill, the first thing she intends to do is to send me and former President Bush and a number of other people around the world to tell them that America is open for business and cooperation again," Clinton said in response to a question from a supporter about what his wife's "number one priority" would be as president.

A spokesman for the George H.W. Bush was not immediately available to comment on whether the former president would chip in some diplomatic help after his son leaves office next year.

Clinton and the elder Bush, rivals in the 1992 presidential election, have grown chummy in recent years, often traveling and appearing at public events together. In 2005, they started a charity to help victims of Hurricane Katrina.

UPDATE: The Republican National Committee issued this statement in response to Clinton's comments:

"In 2009, a Republican president will be working with our friends and allies abroad to continue to keep our nation safe," said RNC spokesman Danny Diaz. "The American people expect our leaders — both current and former — to present serious solutions to the very real challenges confronting our nation."

I don't know where she is. She is on probation and I talked with her P.O. and he said she has a warrant out for her arrest.
My question to you is I need some type of form stating I am the guardian of her kids untill she gets back because if something were to happen I don't know if I am able to take care of it.
I called the police to let them know and they said there is nothing they can do. then I called CPS and they said unless there is a case against her they can not do anything either. then I went down to the court and they said I need to talk to CPS or the police. I am so confused.
PLEASE Help. What do I do.

To anyone who has switched branches and been both a Marine and a Soldier, what did you think? I know everyone's opinions will be different, but, basically, which did you prefer and why? Which branch did you join first? Why did you switch? What was your MOS? If you could do it again, what would you have done? Not saying one branch is better than the other, but people are different and have different wants. I just want to compare answers. Maybe tell me a little about your personality and what you were looking for in the military? The more answers, the better. Thanks!
