is this true?

Prisons are mean, tough places. Whenever someone new enters a cellblock or ward they are immediately confronted by one of the prison warlords or gang leaders. This is done so that there are no illusions as to who holds authority inside. If it is a new inmate coming into the area, rent will be extracted. Rent is the fee an individual must pay in order to stay protected. This can be anything from paying a cigarette a day to the gang leader, making beds, cleaning up, running errors or becoming a homosexual pet to someone or a crew. Usually, at one point or another an inmate will affiliate with one group or another. The alternative is to fight, always having to watch your back.

Is it because:
1- Four bloody years into Iraq we see what a huge disaster its been.
2-The blind partisanship #1 created in the GOP has not caused the to be invincible in elections
3- A mahority of Amnerican see the good-natured trust the had in the Bush Administration 5 years ago is now a quaint naviete that will never happen again.

or 4: all of the above.

How do you feel about mayor giuliani? I personally do not care for him. I think he seems like a good person but I don't understand how he is republican. He's pro choice for one. Also, he voted against Bush's ban against same sex marriage. He seems to be more democrat than republican. what are your thoughts

let's say, ur company organized a competition for people to make a certain design. And one of the competitors submitted a design that's not his ( let's say he searched the internet and found something and then modified it) Should the judges dismiss him from the competition or what??

My opinion is that they shouldn't coz the awards you'll receive is based on designs not on people consciences am i right?

I believe it's both, not to mention being a load of crap.
Conservatives claim to be the most patriotic while they disregard the constitution and side with large corporations over the people.
Anyway, my question is, who from this point on will acknowledge that patriotism is an illusion and not for rational, intelligent people?

It makes the tax code a little simpler for individuals by repealing the AMT after 2007 and expanding the standard deduction, and a bit simpler for businesses, who will trade
unnecessary tax breaks for a lower corporate tax rate. The bill’s corporate loopholeclosing measures would enhance the economy overall because fewer business decisions would be made for tax reasons (to exploit loopholes) rather than sound
economic reasons. It makes the tax code fairer by providing a larger standard deduction and tax credits low-income working people and by scaling back the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy.
Finally, the bill stops the dangerous pattern of the Bush administration of cutting taxes more and more and putting the cost on the national credit card. Instead, the bill pays
for the tax cuts it provides to the vast majority of Americans in a responsible way.

On November 1, the House Ways and Means Committee approved a bill (H.R. 3996) that would close the tax loophole for “carried interest” earned by buyout-fund managers. Closing this unwarranted loophole will raise $25 billion over ten years, offsetting half the cost of providing AMT relief for 2007.
The Carried Interest Provision is a Subsidy for Fund Managers, paid for by the rest of us.
Eliminating the Carried Interest loophole has NO effect on the taxation of Capital Gains.
Eliminating this tax loophole will have NO effect on Realtors.
Congress Should NOT carve out exceptions that would keep the loopholes for some sectors.
Closing the Carried Interest tax loophole will have NO effect on pensions.
The American people will NOT view this measure as a "tax hike."

I live in Texas where the Highways arent finished but we build at least 2 new prisons every year.

My question is how do you feel that part of your tax dollars are going to feed criminals : convicted killers, child molesters, rapists, burglars etc..

When more important things such as schools and highways can be built.

Dont you just think we should send all of these people somewhere in some large prision in Antartica away from people and penguins where us law abiding citizens can have a better education and roads.

I dont like knowing im feeding criminals

It provokes me as a Swiss that I have to recognize in most questions automatically if they refer to USA. Practically nobody strives to indicate in his question which country it concerns. That does not only hurt. It can be rather arrogant and is political not correct.

Other English debating friends might feel the same. We live in numerous English speaking countries from Antigua to Zambia.

Can we also forget to indicate our country in our questions? Or have we to go to leave here?

After seeing some of the postings in here I really have to wonder. Granted, his going into IRAQ was a bad idea from the word go. Some of you think of him to be someone who can't walk and chew gum at the same time, and in the next breath are blaming him for everything from AIDS to Global warming. You can't try to have it both ways. Either or but not both. Or should we look at your last Co Presidents? Gee, Bill and Hillary(Queen of the Politically Correct). Do either of them know the meaning of the word ethics? I know some of you will label me with the evil, cold hearted, mean spirited, Conservative label. I am only rasing a point, and how do you defend yourselves, name calling, grow up.
