They can try, but my brother-in-law is a deputy sherriff and he says regular typing paper is too porous to get fingerprints off of. If the paper is "slick", there might be a better chance. But unless this is a really threatening letter or a matter of National Security, they probably won't even try.

Generally, no.
But they would if someone sent you a letter saying that they killed someone and were writing to tell you where the body is.
If you're talking about someone sending you an anonymous harassing letter, they probably won't check the fingerprints unless the letter is making a significant threat (for example, a terroristic threat) or unless other things happen that would show a significant threat that could be linked to the letter - for example, if someone breaks in to your house and kills your dog and then they send you an anonymous letter saying something like, "You're next." Then they might check for fingerprints. But generally, no - if they did, they would be doing it around the clock for everyone and we just don't have enough resources for that.

It would not sound like there replaced into something offender with regards to the letter. If no longer, then the law enforcement officers are not going to technique it for fingerprints. in case you could convince the law enforcement officers it relatively is harassment, you may desire to get them to do it. yet I doubt it, nicely, except you're nicely related. regardless of if fingerprints are got here across, it relatively is in all probability that the guy's fingerprints have not been put in any database. If the guy that wrote it has in no way been fingerprinted, they'll in no way be pointed out. Getting fingerprint consequences is in contrast to on television.

Not unless it is a threat. And even then, unless the person who sent it has committed an offense in the past and has fingerprints on file the cops won't be able to tell you who sent it.
There is no giant database of every persons fingerprints, so it is highly unlikely that would tell you who sent it anyway.
